Championing Social Care
Celebrating Father's Day in our care homes was a heartwarming experience, bringing families together for a day filled with connection and joy. Some homes shared donuts with dads, others indulged in scrumptious afternoon tea, while some sang their hearts out with karaoke. Our "B Happie" theme emphasises the importance of connection, and we couldn't have asked for a better Father's Day.
Recognising special occasions in care homes is crucial as it fosters a sense of belonging, boosts residents' morale, and strengthens family bonds.

Huge congratulations to Angela, Activity Coordinator at Braemount Care Home - Advinia Healthcare, for being awarded the Nursing Support Worker of the Year at the RCN Scotland Nurse of the Year Awards! π
With 28 years of dedication and hard work, Angelaβs commitment to enhancing the lives of our residents is truly inspiring. Last autumn, she collaborated with CPA and the Care Home Collaborative to complete the Strength and Balance pilot scheme with Paths for All. Thanks to her efforts, we were able to refurbish our garden, adding exercise plinths for our residents to enjoy outdoor exercises.
Well done, Angela! Your passion and dedication make a significant difference every day. ππ

In honour of the 80th anniversary of the Normandy Landings, our care homes participated in the D-Day 80 commemorations, paying tribute to the heroes of the Battle of Normandy. Residents engaged in heartfelt reminiscing, sharing childhood memories and stories from the war era. They watched and sang along to the special National Commemorative event held in Portsmouth.
The celebrations included delightful English-themed afternoon teas, and one of our care homes hosted singers dressed as soldiers who performed beloved wartime classics. Dementia Awareness Week: Celebrating the Power of Music π΅
At our care homes, we believe in the profound impact of music on the lives of those living with dementia. As part of our B Happie initiative, we're thrilled to fill our homes with the joy of music every day. Whether it's inviting outside entertainers or our dedicated staff hosting impromptu dance parties, music is at the heart of our care. Each day, a resident is nominated to share their favorite tunes, turning our units into a celebration of their unique musical tastes and creating wonderful moments of connection and joy.

As part of Dementia Action Week, our care homes came alive with music and dancing! πΆπ
Engaging in music β whether through singing, dancing, or playing instruments β offers numerous benefits for people with dementia. It can:
1. Help express feelings and ideas, both verbally and non-verbally
2. Act as a prompt for reminiscing and sharing personal histories
3. Encourage physical exercise and movement
4. Foster social interaction and reduce isolation
5. Ease distress, especially during personal care
Music has the incredible power to evoke memories and emotions, helping those with dementia connect with their past and improve their overall wellbeing.
At our care homes, we are committed to enriching lives through the power of music.
Our B Happie Initiative, prioritises the happiness and well-being of not just residents, but also our staff members. Our care homes embraced the spirit of Victory in Europe Day with a celebration steeped in English tradition and camaraderie. Decked in red, white, and blue, some homes served classic English dishes like beef stew and bread pudding, whilst some indulged in an afternoon tea.
Amidst nostalgic conversations and shared memories, homes sang along to old wartime classics, weaving a tapestry of remembrance and gratitude. It was a weekend of heartfelt remembrance, cherished traditions, and unity across generations.
Our care home residents basked in the sunny summer vibes this weekend! Some hit the seaside, others explored garden centres, and a few brought the beach right into their dining rooms. Ice creams and fish and chips added to the summer funβ it was a weekend of nostalgic delights!

Celebrating 25 years of Advinia: Yesterday marked a significant milestone as we gathered for our 25th Anniversary conference.
It was a day filled with inspiration, starting with the captivating story of Chairman, Dr Sanjeev Kanoria's journey with Advinia Care Homes. From reminiscing about our past to setting ambitious goals for the future, every moment was a testament to our journey. CEO, Mike Smith, Divisional directors, and care home managers shared invaluable insights, followed by a motivational talk by Jermaine Harris, uplifting us with the power of positivity and determination.
