The principles of Catholic Social Teaching are at the heart of our school's ethos, so we created some posters to remind us all of simple ways that we can put our faith into practice in our day to day lives at school. The posters are displayed around school, and we thought it might also be nice to share them here over the next few weeks. The next principle is Stewardship, which invites us to consider how our actions impact the earth and its people.

On Wednesday Year 12 took part in our annual UCAS day to start thinking about next steps after Sixth Form. We were fortunate to be visited by Canterbury Christ Church University for a personal statement workshop and by one of our past students (class of 2022) who is completing a Degree Apprenticeship with Lloyd's of London. We look forward to seeing Year 12 parents and carers for their UCAS information session next week.

In Skills For Life lessons this month, St Anselm's students have been tackling the topical issue of s*xual harassment, mostly split into single s*x classes to allow openness and a chance to have frank discussions. The issues raised have involved discussing how we respect each other in school, on the bus, in town and in life. In the older classes they were looking at how s*xual harassment can be an issue in the world of work, in UK society and even globally and linking it to news stories.
All students got the opportunity to complete work for a display on this for a main school notice board- a constant reminder of how to respect ALL people in school and society.

What a ⭐! Sunday 19 May 2024 is Pentecost, when we celebrate Christ visiting the apostles and Mary, 50 days after the resurrection and 10 days after His ascension to heaven.

Renew your wonders in this our day, as by a new Pentecost. Grant to your Church that, being of one mind and steadfast in prayer with Mary, the Mother of Jesus, and following the lead of Blessed Peter, it may advance the reign of our Divine Saviour, the reign of truth and justice, the reign of love and peace. Amen.

Wishing all our students, staff and their families a happy bank holiday weekend. The weather forecast looks a bit mixed, so here's hoping that we all get to enjoy the sun when it makes its appearance!

01/05/2024

Wishing a happy Wednesday to all our students, staff and their families with a prayer to start the day...

Good Morning God!
You are ushering in another day,
untouched and freshly new.
So here I am to ask you, God,
if You'll renew me too.

Forgive the many errors that I made yesterday
and let me try again dear God
to walk closer in Your way.

But Lord, I am well aware,
I can't make it on my own.
So take my hand and hold it tight,
for I cannot walk alone.

Wednesday 13 March was Young Carers Action Day, with the theme 'Fair Futures for Young Carers'. At St Anselm’s we have over 100 Young Carers and every day they balance their schoolwork with caring for a family member. Mr Graydon, our School Librarian and Young Carers Co-ordinator took the opportunity to invite Canterbury MP Rosie Duffield to meet our Young Carers and learn more about what they do to support their families and the community. Our cohort of Young Carers enjoyed a cream tea with Rosie and enjoyed talking about their experiences with her.
