Hi Everyone
We are in the process of streamlining our out of school childcare and have some questions...
Would you be interested in our breakfast club if it had an earlier start time (currently 8:00am)?
Would you be interested in our afterschool club if it had a later finish time? (currently 4:00pm)?
If we were to open for longer hours would you be more inclined to use the service?
As always thank you for your continued support.
The Kaleidascope Team
Dear Parents/Carers,
Following the latest advice from the UK government (12/3/20), We are issuing this updated policy which informs you of our settingâs current stance on the evolving coronavirus situation. This has been classed as a âglobal pandemicâ, so it is much more likely that all our families will be affected in some way and I think we have begun to see the impact of this already.
This will be a difficult time for us all, which may affect our health, finances and daily lives for the foreseeable future. As always, our honesty and open dialogue is integral to the success of out setting and I appreciate your full co-operation in this matter. Our strong partnership enables us to provide the best care for your child.
As you know, if your children are slightly under the weather, but theyâre happy to join in our activities (obviously excluding D&V etc), then we have always accepted them. However, the latest advice is that those who are displaying even mild symptoms â a new continuous cough and/or a fever of 37.8 or above, should self-isolate for at least 7 days. Therefore, effective immediately, we are making the following changes:
⢠If your child is displaying symptoms, then we will not accept them for at least 7 days and full fees will be payable.
⢠If your child develops symptoms during their time in our care, then we will call you or the emergency contacts to collect them immediately. They will need to stay away from the setting for at least 7 days and full fees will be payable.
⢠If any staff members display symptoms, they will self-isolate for at least 7 days.
⢠Any individual dropping off or collecting your child from the setting must not be displaying symptoms. If your child is well, then we will currently accept them, providing they can be dropped off and collected by an appropriate and symptom free adult.
We are also asking that you sanitize or wash yourâs and your childrenâs hands on entry to setting each day.
We have in place strict cleaning procedures and you can be assured that all surfaces, toys and equipment are being sanitised regularly.
The UK government advice given on 12/3/2020 was that in the next few weeks, it is likely that everyone in the household will need to isolate if one person displays symptoms. When or if this change occurs, our policy will be updated accordingly.
⢠If our setting is forced to close as part of a nationwide closure, we will follow official guidelines and act appropriately. In this instance, half fees are payable for the duration of the closure for up to 2 weeks. If the period is longer than 2 weeks this may change.
⢠If you choose to keep your child at home as a precautionary measure and we remain open, then full fees are still payable.
If any scenarios arise that are not covered here, they will be dealt with professionally and considerately to ensure the well-being of those involved and minimal disruption.
For official information about coronavirus, please see the NHS website (NHS.uk) or the UK governmentâs website (gov.uk).

Due to a continued increase in children, and fully booked sessions, we recently handed out questionnaires at both our Aylesham and Dover settings. The purpose of this was to explore whether there would be an interest in longer opening hours at our settings.
The result was extremely positive and we are excited to announce that we will be offering extended hours from September 2016. We will be open from 08.00 a.m. - 18.00 p.m. Monday to Friday, term time only. This will be reviewed in December and we may open 48 weeks a year if there is enough interest.
You will be able to access your 15 hours free funding across the day and these can be taken in full days or blocks of hours across the week. We do hope you will take the opportunity to utilize these extended hours to better suit your familyâs needs.
Just getting to grips with the layout and how to use the new business pages to promote Kaleidascope. Please can you take the time to tell us what you think of our setting and rate us using the stars. Thank you so much!! xx
