Wednesday 27 March - Pean Hill, Whitstable
Engineers have been working in Pean Hill under two-way temporary traffic lights to locate the source of a gas leak.
This has now been identified, and we need to carry out urgent repairs to our gas network. We need to carry out further excavation work to do the repairs using specialist equipment, and that will not leave enough room for traffic to pass safely.
To ensure everyone's safety while we complete our critical work, the road will be closed near the junction with Pean Court Road from 3pm on Wednesday 27 March, and will remain closed over the Easter weekend until 16:30 on the 7th April.
Local signed diversions are in place for motorists.
We understand this is a busy route and we'd like to apologise for any disruption caused.

I have been concerned for a while about the prices of petrol in Canterbury compaired to other petrol stations in the district.
The Esso stations are far above the average price and I think this is wrong. I will be posting weekly prices so you can look to fill you car up at the most reasonable price instead of being over charged during a cost of living crisis.
Morrisons and Asda = £1.447 per litre
Esso = 1.489 and £1.479
The formal consultation for our next draft local plan is now open.
This council administration is listening to you and we want to know what you think about our plans.

Kent County Council’s (KCC) libraries are to offer a free course to help support residents with their personal finances.
The Institute of Accountants and Bookkeepers has partnered with KCC’s 99 libraries to provide a ‘managing your finances’ one-hour learning course which covers some basic topics of setting a household budget, understanding your payslip, reducing your cost of living expenses, understanding loan repayments and accessing financial support.
The course will be available via the free public computers or people can simply scan a QR code which links to the course on their smartphone:
http://iabeducation.co.uk/enroll?id=3063
Once completed, users will receive a certificate which could prove invaluable when applying for jobs, volunteering roles, housing or potentially accessing further qualifications.
IAB Sustainability Officer, Helen Boone said: “We are looking to help hundreds of people to understand how to get on top of their finances. This is particularly important when so many of us are coping with the cost-of-living crisis and may not understand how to make simple cost savings.
“As libraries are increasingly seen as important community hubs, we felt they were the ideal place to offer this service and we’re thrilled that Kent has fully come on board to help us.”
IAB Chief Executive, Sarah Palmer said: “We at the IAB are passionate about education and we want to do whatever we can to inspire the next generation of finance professionals. We also want to fill this important skills gap left by the loss of funding. That is why we have linked up with the Kent library team to roll out this training course.
“Not only will it help people with basic finances but we believe it can also form the pathway to a new career in accountancy, bookkeeping or business support.”
IAB College Meta Description
Keir Starmer has made it part of our mission for the next Labour government to halve knife crime. That is why we have set out an urgent plan:
Get knives off our streets with an urgent crackdown on the possession and sale of lethal knives, and bring in new and stronger laws to crack down on dangerous knife sales.
Crackdown on criminal gangs who are luring teenagers into violence, by making child criminal exploitation an offence and strengthening the serious and organised crime strategy.
Community prevention work and early intervention to stop young people being drawn into crime through a major new Young Futures Programme including new youth hubs and mental health support.
Immediate interventions and serious consequences for young people caught carrying a knife with referrals to Youth Offending Teams, sanctions and bespoke intervention plans.
Create a new cross-government coalition to end knife crime, bringing together political and community leaders to help tackle the issue and keep young people safe.
Labour's Action Plan to cut knife crime – The Labour Party Knife crime is yet another crushing example of us all paying the price for Tory sticking plaster politics. Our five point plan will tackle it.
