The 6-week programme is aimed at long-term NEET (Not in Employment, Education or Training) individuals recommended to us by the Canterbury Job Centre. Compass builds confidence through mindset change, skills acquisition, and actual work practice. Feedback has been marvellous from both participants and the Job Centre.

NiNi Myint crocheted the beach bags herself
NiNi Myint is a Myanmar national with big dreams and the motivation to make them come true. Her consistency and focus have seen her bloom from a shy, meek and introverted disposition into a self-actualising entrepreneur.
A former zoologist, NiNi moved to Thailand to seek a better life for herself and to earn enough money to send back home to her family. Instead, she found herself in a ramshackle village with other Myanmarese migrants, with few opportunities and degrading work for low pay. The COVID-19 pandemic made things even worse as the tourist-dependent Koh Tao was closed to visitors, forcing many businesses to shut down.
With the help of the , she chose to turn her passion for crocheting into making specially handcrafted fashion accessories such as bags, hats, baby clothing and more. Currently, she is studying on a small business course organised by the Foundation to increase her business nous. She is pleased to be selling her products internationally.
