Canterbury HC is one of the largest clubs in the UK: 14 adult sides and thriving junior section
Canterbury Hockey Club is one of the largest hockey clubs in the country and boasts impressive facilities at the Polo Farm Sports Club complex where there are two water-based pitches as well as a sand-based pitch. The club fields ten men's sides, five ladies' sides, cup sides, tournament sides, a mixed side, a midweek side and has very strong youth and school sections. Each operates in its own org
Over the last few weeks, two new junior umpires, Sam and Isaac, have completed the EH Introduction to Umpiring Course. ๐๐ฝ
Along with two of our other junior umpires, Izzy and Ava, (and with support from three of our more experienced umpires), they have been umpiring small-sided games for the younger age groups at our Spring Skills School. ๐
The junior umpires have also watched some of the Pro-league and discussed the umpiring there, practised applying rules such as the aerial and learnt how to communicate with their partner using our new radio headsets, purchased with money from Teamo Rewards.
Well done Sam, Isaac, Izzy and Ava, a huge thank you to Chris, Les and Stu for giving up time to support the future.

A team from the u12 Boys u14 Girls and u14 Boys were scheduled to play 3 games across 3 days.
Unfortunately due to delays on the Friday we missed the opportunity to play however across the Saturday and Sunday all games were played with 6 big wins.
More important that the outcome was the opportunity to be immersed in a different environment, socialising with each other and the opposition, making memories.
A fantastic experience for all invovled (children and parents)
A huge thank you to everyone that made this happen, organisers, coaches, managers, parents and host clubs ๐๐ค

WINNERS!
The u14 boys retained the Tier 1 National Plate with a 3-0 win over Trojans at Nottingham Hockey Centre.
Goals from Ollie B and Arthur A (x2) and a dynamic performance from Oly T in goal ensured the team got the prize. ๐
Congratulations to all the players that have contributed to this success and a huge thank you to the coaching and management team; Bonnie, Lucy, Karen, Tom, Jamie and not forgetting the parents/supporters who travel all over the south (and midlands for a 16:00 start time) with the boys.
A great way to close the junior season.

We are delighted to announce our senior coaches for the 23/24 season
Our Director of Hockey, Ollie Lumley, will be leading the Ladies 1s. Ollie has a multitude of coaching experience to draw upon working in both a Menโs and Ladies National League setting, he will no doubt bring lots of energy to our Ladies program.
The coaching partnership of Craig Boyne and Alastair Brogdon OLY will continue into the 23/24 season with the Menโs 1s. Alastair will be taking on more responsibility to support the men in their push for promotion. Craig will continue with his dual player/coach role.
All three coaches bring varying playing and coaching experience to the club and we are extremely excited to have them on board for the forthcoming season.
Itโs with great sadness that we share the passing of Graham Brown.
Graham was a true club โlegendโ who famously played 50 straight seasons, retiring in 2019. For 12 of those 50 seasons he was top Goalscorer, an award now named after him.
We will share details of how Grahams life will be celebrated when they are known.
