We're excited to announce that we have a new system up and running for booking design consultations with us!
It's as simple as clicking the link below and choosing a time slot that works for you- we offer meetings in-person at our workshop, over the phone, and via Zoom for your convenience! It eliminates some of the back-and-forth of booking via Messenger so we have more time to work on new projects to share with you all, but we'll obviously still be available there for other questions.
We can't wait to work with you to make your ideas a reality! 😄
Initial Consultation - Jesper Velling This introductory consultation is designed to help me get to know a bit more about you and what it is you're looking for, and from this we will work together to create something perfect for you.
Hello! 🙂
As part of the development of our new website (exciting, we know!) we are asking if any of our past or existing customers would just take a minute to write us a quick Google review- any pictures you can include of your pieces, old or new, would really help and be greatly appreciated!
We value your feedback and would love to hear about your experience working with us... and if you're lucky you may even make it onto our website 😉
If you want to book an appointment, just click the link below! https://calendly.com/jesper-jespervelling/initial-consultation

Hello all! ☺️ It’s been a while since we’ve posted on here but we’re back with one of the most exciting projects we’ve had in a while- my lovely niece Sofie’s engagement ring! I worked very closely with Glenn, Sofie’s fiancé, to design this beautiful ring for him to propose with, and we were both thrilled with how it turned out.
This 18ct yellow gold engagement ring is set with a natural, untreated 1.46ct Red Umba Garnet. It is a seven-sided, round, brilliant cut stone- which was chosen as this is Sofie’s birthstone. The rough stone was discovered in Tanzania and cut by gemstone explorer Martin Prinsloo.
The centre stone is highlighted with a halo of eighteen 1.30mm pavè set, round brilliant cut diamonds (Total weight 0.17ct F/Vs).
We’re so proud that we could be a part of this journey and couldn’t have wished for a more thoughtful partner for our niece. Now to get back in the workshop to get started on the wedding rings! 💍
It's been absolutely great to have this unique commission back in the workshop for a check-up. This piece, which was made by us over a decade ago, came back in for a clean and polish, so we got the chance to take some more photos to show it off to you!
It was created for a Danish family member of mine, out of a rough piece of lava from Iceland- giving it a raw, organic look that we think works beautifully with the sterling silver liner. As this is quite a chunky ring, we've accommodated for comfort with cut-outs on either side, so that it sits perfectly between the fingers.
To date, this is still one of our favourite commissions and (if we may say so ourselves 😉) it looks just as awesome as when it was first created!
Would you consider incorporating natural materials such as this into a commission of your own? To book an appointment to discuss this, just click the link below!

We're back! And with a beautiful, sci-fi inspired sapphire and diamond engagement ring! 💍
Central to the piece is a stunning blue sapphire, held by 18ct gold claws to the platinum bezel. The band has crossover shoulders, which are highlighted by the opposing rows of small, brilliant cut diamonds.
This piece was commissioned by a customer for his girlfriend (now fiancé!) who is a self-confessed nerd. Can anyone guess where the inspiration for this design came from? 🌌✨
Some more close-up details and behind-the-scenes progress videos of the pen commission! Check out our previous post if you haven't already to see the pen in its entire glory! 😉
Engraving on THIS small of a scale was a new experience for me- as was making and designing a pen completely from scratch! -but it's been so much fun to learn.
No commission is too out-there for us at Jesper Velling, we're always willing to learn and try out new things in order to bring your ideas to life! Send us a text, an email or give us a call today to get started:)
The long-awaited reveal of the commission for James that we teased last month!
This was an extraordinary project to work on and so exciting to get to experiment with making every component from start to finish!
The pen itself is made of ebony and silver and has interchangeable fountain pen or ballpoint nibs. 24ct gold was used to create the shield shape, which was then engraved under a very strong microscope with James' family crest- this matches a signet ring that he commissioned from us a while back! The pen was then micro-set with 4 bands of small diamonds, one on the top and bottom of both the body and lid, which totalled over 100 stones! Finally, we set 3 beautiful blue sapphires into the piece, put it in its personalised leather case, and it was ready!
We were sad to see this amazing piece leave the workshop but so beyond happy with how pleased James was when he saw it! 😊
This wedding ring left our workshop recently and look at how gorgeous it is!
Our lovely customer wanted a wide platinum wedding ring with a vintage look, so we incorporated some millgrain beading along the settings to achieve this.
The band itself is platinum but is lined with gold, which was melted down from one of her father's rings. This is a very sentimental and important part of the design and I love creating pieces like this for customers that incorporate jewellery from loved ones, so that they can always wear them close.
Some of the gold and one of the bigger diamonds used, was from her mother's engagement ring, while the stunning green emerald was chosen as it's her birthstone. 💎
We managed to include important sentimental elements while still maintaining the customer's aesthetic within the design, so we're very proud of this one and beyond glad that she loves it! 😊
Morning all!! ☺️
I’ve recently finished a super exciting commission for our good friend and customer, James! These are some very early progress pics of the piece- any guesses at what it’s going to be? 😉💎
Stay tuned for the completed pics once it’s left the workshop!
Some of you may have realised that our website is down and displaying this message, we're working hard to get the new site up and running ASAP!
But don't worry, you can still contact us via Messenger on here or just send us an email. 😊
Hello all, we're back from our short hiatus with a great throwback for you today!
This free-form yellow gold necklace is another repurposing for my Aunt Nanna in Denmark. 🇩🇰 We melted down some old gold jewellery of her mother's to be transformed into this new piece.
A natural gold-nugget shape was formed out of tinfoil and pressed in Delft casting clay, for the molten gold to then be poured into. Once we had cast the main gold piece, smaller droplets of gold were created by slowly pouring the rest of the molten gold into water.
Once everything was polished, the pieces were soldered at random intervals onto a gold chain to give us this stunningly abstract final product.
Please swipe through the photos to see some of the progress pics and videos of the process! 😊
THROWBACK THURSDAY!!
This is a beautiful platinum and diamond engagement ring that I designed and created, in December of 2021. It's set with a superb D-colour, brilliant-cut, 2ct diamond, which is flanked by smaller diamonds going down the band on either side.
I'm also currently in the process of making this lovely couple's wedding rings; so watch this space and like this post if you want to see them when they're done! 😉💎
THROWBACK THURSDAY!!
This gorgeous pair of platinum diamond earrings left our bench in December of 2021. They were a real challenge to handmake and set, as each setting has a small, delicate hinge- however it's worth it for how much it makes them sparkle when worn!
Each earring contains six diamonds: two kite-cut, one tapered baguette-cut, two trapeze-cut, and then finally a beautiful brown brilliant-cut diamond to finish the piece. (The last picture shows the diamonds laid out next to their settings).
Pieces like this are a great staple for any smart occasion and can be completely tailored to your stone cut, colour and material preferences! Just drop us a message or an email to book a consultation. 😊
THROWBACK THURSDAY!!
This customer brought in her old yellow gold and ruby cluster engagement ring with one diamond missing; along with the matching 18ct yellow gold wedding band. She felt that the rings looked slightly old fashioned and didn't fit together that well, so we re-designed it to better suit her preferences.
The slightly oval ruby from the old ring was sent off to be re-cut and polished into a perfectly round stone, and the missing diamond replaced to create a halo style ring. We also cut out the wedding band so that it sits perfectly with the engagement ring.
It's always a pleasure to help people fall in love with their jewellery all over again! If you've been thinking of having something re-designed, please get in touch- we have many more examples of this kind of work! 😊
Last but certainly not least, we have this exquisite pink tourmaline pendant from the collaboration I did with Scarab Antiques!
The two main stones, also beautifully cut by Alan Poultney Gems, are two pear-shaped pink tourmalines- they're surrounded by 70 1mm diamonds which I micro-set into the platinum frame. The claws on the tourmalines and the wire gallery of the pendant are made of 18ct rose gold.
A close-up of one of the pieces from the other week's post!
This is a ring I worked on for our friends over at Scarab Antiques. It's a stunning green tourmaline stone that was cut by Alan Poultney Gems, with an 18ct yellow gold setting on it. It has a platinum shank and side settings, which have been set with some gorgeous little french cut diamonds on either side of the main stone.

THROWBACK THURSDAY!!
This customer brought in some old rings and loose stones for me to remodel into a new piece for her.
Using all of different sized diamonds from the rings, alongside a sapphire, amethyst and a garnet, I designed and created this ring. The stones are scattered around the open-plan design of the rose gold and platinum band.
The photos below show the process of design; from the original rings and stones, to the sketching out of plans, to the process of making and finally- the stunning finished piece. ☺️
THROWBACK THURSDAY!!
This is a piece I did a while back for my Aunt Nanna over in Denmark. 🇩🇰
She had a few of her mum's old pieces of gold jewellery that she wanted to be repurposed into something she could wear, so we melted them down- see satisfying video at the end!
Then once they had been made into lots of small wires and droplets, we added them to a reticulated silver band (this just means that the surface of the silver was heated until it melted) until we had this unique piece.
It's always a pleasure to be trusted with people's family heirlooms, and it makes the hard work all the more worth it to see their reactions to the new piece at the end 😊
