Our Story

I got my first bulldog, Esme, in 2015 after moving from London to Letchworth. Since then, her sweet, stubborn and stinky presence has filled every corner of our home and pretty much taken over our lives. When I decided to set up my own accountancy practice in 2017, it felt natural to name it in honour of this fantastic breed with its tenacity, integrity and friendliness (in spite of the slightly brutish exterior). I get a few raised eyebrows now and then and a lot of people ask if there is a bulldog in Bulldog Accounting, but at least I’m memorable which is difficult to achieve in a sea of accountants, book-keepers and other service providers!

I am aware that accountancy services are often a “grudge purchase”, decided upon when something has gone wrong, someone has become frustrated or if a business has received poor service from their existing accountant. There isn’t much I can do about that, but I can promise that I will always be responsive, friendly, and up front in any interactions we have. I provide a free hour long consultation for all prospective clients so we can get to know each other a little, I can understand a bit more about what your needs are and you can decide if you want to proceed with a more formal business relationship. I want to be part of your business and help you understand the finance side of things, not just someone who ticks a few boxes for you at the end of the year (and charges you a whacking great fee for the privilege).

I am quite outgoing in comparison to your average accountant and really love finding out about people’s businesses, especially at the start up phase on when a big change is coming and things are a bit tricky! I’m also really interested in charities and not-for-profit organisations trying to stretch their pennies as far as possible in order to help more people and do some pro-bono work where I can.
