Some of our guides have been very privlileged to be shown the ongoing restoration and preservation work on Canterbury Cathedral's magnificent Christ Church Gate.
Heather Newton, the Cathedral's former Head of Conservation, explained the techniques involved in the painstaking work to clean and conserve the intricate carvings and stonework, some of which is original and some from the previous 1930s restoration carried out by W.D. Caröe.
