At Priory Hospital Cardiff, we pride ourselves in offering a Bespoke Treatment Package tailored to each individual we support.

To enable us to do this, we provide bespoke training to ensure we teach and continuously upskill our staffing teams, whilst embedding Priory Policies and Values.

Our training events allow our teams to learn and understand an individuals history, their functioning profile and support needs. This feeds into a holistic review of the proposed treatment plan and creates opportunities for team building. Take a look at some photos of a recent (4 day) training event held!

We are so grateful for the compassion and dedication displayed by our team in providing recovery focused care. ✨

HAPPY FIRST BIRTHDAY PRIORY HOSPITAL CARDIFF! 🥳🎉🎈

On 7th June, it was one whole year since we opened our doors to our first service user! In typical Priory Hospital Cardiff style, there had to be a huge celebration!

The day consisted of party bags and affirmation cards for our wonderful team 🎁, a smashing party and barbecue with our service users 🍗, party games 🎳🧩, decorations 🎈🎉, speeches 🎤🗯️, a Photo Booth 📸 and the biggest cake ever made!! 🍰

We also used the party as an opportunity to thank our wonderful service users and our incredible staffing team. We handed over a garden that has been revitalised, putting some plants and new garden furniture in place. This garden will be used by our staff to rest and recharge on their breaks (especially during the summer months!!). ☀️

This truly was a wonderful day and we are very proud of the positive impact we have had on our service users lives. 💖

Happy Wellbeing Wednesday!

Last weeks exercise encouraged our whole team to reflect on our day or week and think about three good things which happened, or we felt grateful for.
These could have been big things or small everyday occurrences which made us smile.

We could write these down, just sit and think about them, or share them with someone else.

Here are some examples of what makes Priory Hospital Cardiff happy! ☺️

Happy Safeguarding Week!

✨Meet Diane, our Registered Learning Disabilities nurse. Diane has been nominated as a “Safeguarding Hero” for the work she completes in raising and escalating concerns and raising awareness of safeguarding across site. Well done Diane!✨

💡Safeguarding adults means protecting a persons right to live in safety, free from abuse and neglect💡.

At Priory Hospital Cardiff, we strive to provide informed choices to empower our service users to plan for their future. In regards to safeguarding, we base our beliefs on prevention - we strive to ensure our service users and staff are aware and responsive to raising concerns.

During Safeguarding Week, we asked our staffing team 3 questions:
- What makes me feel safe?
- How can we improve safeguarding at Priory Hospital Cardiff?
- Who do I report safeguarding concerns to?

Responses have been placed on our safeguarding board for all staff to view 🤩

Happy Occupational Therapy Week! 🎨🎲👩🏾👨👨‍👩‍👧

A HUGE shout out to our amazing Occupational Therapist, Hannah and our absolutely fabulous Occupational Therapy Assistant, Abby. We are so appreciative of everything you both do, so thank you from us all at Priory Hospital Cardiff ✨

Occupations are anything and everything we DO as individuals, when we have trouble completing important and essential occupations for a variety of reasons, Occupational Therapists and Occupational Therapy Assistants step in!

Occupational Therapy within Forensic Mental Health looks different everyday, but at Priory Hospital Cardiff we believe recovery happens through activity. From scrapbooking, to writing raps, to making jelly, to gardening, to morning Zumba .. we do it all - if it matters to patients, it matters to Occupational Therapists. Magic happens when we DO occupations, and that’s why it’s important we maintain and strengthen them whilst in hospital.

This OT week we’ve been developing our patients understanding of occupations, and even got the chance to get our MDT stuck into a gardening session! 👨‍🌾🌾

We don’t just talk about putting employees first. We know that Priory wouldn’t exist without their combined energy, expertise and effort. We are looking for a Senior Occupational Therapist to join the team. The role of the Senior OT is to work closely with the Therapy Assistants and the Multi-Disciplinary Team to deliver group and one to one occupational, therapeutic and recreational activities and interventions. The work will take place on the wards, in the hospital grounds and in the community. It is such an exciting opportunity to be able to invest more time in fewer patients to provide the very best service and help them recover and progress.

The role of the Senior Occupational Therapist will include managing members of the therapy team, overseeing service provision in a variety of areas and providing supervision to junior staff. The role will also involve delivering a range of innovative interventions that motivate and engage individuals to improve their occupational skills and mental wellbeing.

There will be opportunities for assessing, intervening and evaluating progress in line with MDT care plans. The post requires someone who is willing to find new and creative ways to work with clients with a range of presenting difficulties.

Responsibilities will also include being involved in reducing restrictive interventions, good clinical note taking, planning skills, good time management and engagement in department meetings and supervision.

Experience - experience of working in a healthcare setting and/or working with clients with mental health diagnosis or challenging behaviours for at least 2 years would be desirable. Additionally a qualification in Sensory Integration Training would also be desirable. However, there will be training and learning opportunities. Supervision will be provided by a qualified clinician.
