As students return to campus this week, we’re excited to be feeling the buzz that comes with being a part of Sbarc and the wider Cardiff University community. It’s great to be seeing so many friendly, familiar faces back in the building as summer ends.

In an increasingly online world, there’s certainly something to be said about the role that books can play in the design process for websites and online branding.

Here at Karolo, we’re still big believers that sometimes the best way to do things is the classic way. While all of our sites are built for the digital age, all of our team members – developers, designers, and admin – still carry around physical notebooks to capture their lightening in a bottle ideas. 🤓

Though we take a lot of inspiration from our super sleek and modern office building, design reference books also still play a part in our creative process.

From design-based books to epic works of fiction, design inspiration can come from anywhere, and any book. 📖

This ability to inspire, and the blending of new and old it encourages is part of why we’re celebrating here at Karolo today.

Status Update: Feeling Famous 🤩

Have you checked out the new season of Emily in Paris yet? If you have you might recognise one of our most recent projects. Kir Royale is Emily’s favourite cocktail. And we’ve spent the last few months secretly brewing up a website for Chamère – a brand new pre-mixed Kir Royal that will be launching soon.

This one has been a closely guarded secret and we’re super excited to be sharing this with you all! We hope you’ll all join us in raising a glass to our biggest onscreen appearance yet. 🥂

Last week saw us launch a brand new website for South Wales-based family solicitors Grant Stephens Family Law. They have one of largest dedicated family law teams in Wales and have recently opened up a second branch in Swansea. We transformed their online presence into a streamlined hub where users can swiftly access relevant information and get in touch with the team easily. They were a delight to work with and we’re incredibly pleased with the end result!

We had a lot of fun with this one. Working with Swansea Council we developed a new visual identity for their Local Development Plan. Packed with vibrant colours, photography and illustrations from the local area, we developed a range of posters, brochures and detailed papers that really brings the content to life.

Massive thanks to Sauce for an amazing job installing the window graphics at our new office. We're chuffed with the end result!

We've moved! We're pleased to announce we recently set up our new office joining the lovely folks over at the impressive sbarc|spark building on Maindy Road. Big thanks to the innovation team for making us feel super welcome.

4 years on this is still one of our favourite websites. Christ College Brecon is a prestigious private boarding school - their location is highly impressive and their website had to match. Packed with information and stunning imagery from the local area, it's great to see this website design has stood the test of time.

Here's a little look back at the branding we designed for Penhein - a stunning glampsite in South Wales. Quirky illustrations combine with an earthy colour palette to create a brand that has stood the test of time - we started working with Penhein back in 2014... how time flies!

Who knew! Located in seriously impressive, purpose built premises in Fforestfach, is Seminar components - a world leader in the design and manufacture of innovative motion seating systems.

Mark, our MD, was lucky enough to visit the 50,000 sq ft facility, seeing precision manufacturing first hand. Our challenge was then to communicate the quality of their physical products into the digital world. Combining video, detailed product photography and a super simple filtering system, the new Seminar website is built to impress.

Working with an established, family favourite brand always come with a little added pressure, but who doesn't love a bit pressure to get the creative juices flowing.

Opened well over 100 years ago in 1906, Vincent Davies is a department store like no other. Proud to be family owned and run, the store is well known for it’s excellent customer service and quality goods. Having worked with Vincent Davies since 2015, we were delighted when the management team chose to continue putting their faith in us to deliver their new website.

Packed with stunning imagery and a subtle, contemporary layout, this new website give the team at Vincent Davies full control to keep their site up to date. A fresh take on this old classic

We've worked on a number of really cool Gin and Whiskey brands over recent years and Dubliner Liberties Distillery is no different. Steeped in history with a delicious range of outstanding Irish Whiskey, the DLD gave us creative freedom to run with their brand and create a dark, rich visual experience for their audience. Healthy Brain, Healthy Heart!
Working with from and , we had a great time creating these illustrations to help communicate the importance of looking after your brain and heart. With games, challenges and useful info, these designs will be seen by school children across South Wales.

April 2023 saw the launch of Unleash, a new business conference in Wales. With over 300 delegates, the conference had to look top notch! In we stepped to design everything from recyclable exhibition stands, signage, notebooks and name cards, all the way through to a tilt and turn magazine.

With World Car Free day coming up this Friday, what better time to showcase Cardiff Cycle Workshop, a great not-for-profit organisation. Having rescued and restored over 4000 bikes, the team at CCW provide an invaluable resource of education and bike recycling. A great client to work with!

It's important to speak to your audience in their language.

As part of our recent rebrand for Planning Officers Society Wales we created a bi-lingual website, allowing the team to communicate with both English and Welsh speakers. In the admin area, English content is shown side by side with its Welsh counterpart, making it surprisingly easy to update.

We work a lot in web, but it's always great to get our hands on a copy of the printed materials we've designed. The rebrand of Green Willow Funerals is looking superb. Beautiful, uncoated paper stock gives a real quality finish to their stationery.

Combining a punchy colour palette and beautifully clean layouts we recently helped bring N-Code to life. N-Code supports the development of technologies that enable the diagnosis and management of neurological conditions in the community. We were delighted to help design their brand and website and continue to support the network as they look to expand their reach.
