Another area of my business is shop-fitting.

This year I have worked with Abergavenny Borough Theatre to create a new ticket desk area with safety screen, and Oriel Makers to build a new window display and much needed storage cupboards. I have also previously worked on restaurant refurbishments including Ty Madeira in Cardiff City Centre.

I hope this has given you an insight into the type of work I do. I’m taking a break over Christmas but I would like to thank my customers for their continued support in 2021, see you in 2022!

Not many people know, but my first carpentry role was making set scenery for theatres across the UK.

I still work with organisations in the Arts sector – my clients include Criw Celf, Arts Active and the New Theatre, Cardiff. I also work with local charities including Action in Caerau & Ely (ACE) where I teach woodwork skills and health and safety to young people in the community – helping to inspire the next generation of budding carpenters.

This year I’ve had a number of customers wanting new internal doors fitted or existing doors re-hung -- to open in the opposite direction. Here’s a small selection of doors I have fitted this year including bi-fold and saloon style doors.

Time to celebrate - The Female Carpenter is 5 years old this month!

To mark this milestone, I thought I share a little about me - Leanne, the person behind The Female Carpenter.

At the age of 30 after a career in marketing & travelling around Australia, I decided to completely change career and study a
I spent time working on domestic projects, shop fits, as well as making scenery & sets for the theatre & opera. In 2016 I decided to launch my own business & have never looked back!
