Do you want to know which wax or clay you need for your hair style?

When choosing a finishing product, your stylist should always be the first port of call for advice. After all, they have designed your cut and know the best products to get that polished finish.

But if you want to try other products, here's the low down on the differences:

Wax. A wax can be very light or a little stronger but will usually have a shiny finish. This will give your hair a polished look but not as much texture. Better for finer hair than the other types of products and longer styles.

For soft hold and great shine, try Davines This is a Shine Wax. Brilliant for smoothing down fly away rogue hairs.

Creme or paste. It's a sort of midway product. Creme or paste usually is medium hold and gives lots of texture. Not shiny, but not as matte as clay. Best to warm in the palms of your hands to soften slightly and build the amount of product up so as not to overload your hair. Good on most hair textures, but especially thicker hair.

For medium hold with an invisible finish try Moroccanoil Molding Creme.

Clay. The strongest hold of the styling products. Normally, it works best after being softened in your hands to warm slightly, and needs a little at a time to get the required texture. It's really good for very short styles such as barber style hair cuts and razor cut hair and very thick, coarse hair.

For super strong hold and amazing texture, try Moroccanoil Texture Clay.

🌞Does your blow dry 'last' in hot weather?
If the answer is no, there's a good chance your concern is frizzy hair.

🌞In warm conditions, as heat from our scalp escapes, it creates pockets of moisture in between the hairs on your head, which then slightly dampen the hair. The damp hair will try to revert to its natural wet state, which for a huge percentage of the population, is anything from slightly wavy to full on curly....that sleek blow dry and straighten won't last long at all!

•Help your hair by using protective products, and consider wearing your hair in either a naturally wavy/curly style or using tongs or curling wands to create a softer style which won't show the frizz so easily.

💨When blow drying your hair, finishing with the cool setting will not only set your style but also cool down your scalp after the heat of the dryer.

Does your blonde go brassy in the sun?
Soft, pretty blondes, need special summer care.

🌞The sun is beautiful, but its strength knows no bounds. When it comes to blonde hair, it can strip it of its toner, discolour, and dehydrate it.
Top tips to care for your blonde hair:

1. Keep your hair hydrated. Use a hydrating shampoo and conditioner designed to keep your blonde hair looking and feeling amazing. Davines Heart of Glass range is perfect for this as it is designed especially for blondes.

2. Protect your hair with a leave in hair treatment such as Davines Oi All in one milk. This has UV protection for your hair. Simply spray into your hair before blow drying.

3. Wherever possible, cover your hair with a hat or scarf when outside.

☀️Fun in the Sun!

Hey lovely people!
Summer is just around the corner, and I know many of you are getting ready to jet off on your well-deserved holidays.
I wanted to share some hair care tips to help you maintain your locks while you're away.
Firstly, protect your hair from the sun. Just like your skin, your hair can also get damaged by the sun's harmful UV rays. Wearing a hat or scarf is a great way to shield your hair from the sun, or you can use a leave-in conditioner with SPF protection.
Secondly, invest in a good quality travel-sized hair care kit. You don't want to be lugging around full-size bottles of shampoo and conditioner in your suitcase. Look for mini versions of your favourite hair care products that you can easily pack and take with you. We have some in salon 😃
Thirdly, be mindful of the water. If you're traveling to a new place, the water may have a different pH level than what you're used to. This can cause your hair to become dry and brittle. Consider using a clarifying shampoo to help remove any build-up or impurities from the water.
Lastly, embrace the beachy waves. The salty air and ocean water can actually give your hair a beautiful, textured look. Embrace the natural waves and don't worry too much about styling your hair every day.
Remember, your hair deserves just as much attention and care while you're on holiday as it does when you're at home. By following these simple tips, you can keep your hair looking healthy and beautiful all summer long. So, go out there and have some fun in the sun!

We launder our towels and gowns using laundry sheets in a water efficient washing machine using stored solar power.
We are about to start adding hair to our pot plants!

I remember the first time I visited a hair salon without my mum taking me. I was just a teen, and I was desperate to go to the salon all my friends were talking about. I walked in to see a 2 ladies talking behind the reception desk. They didn't look at me until they had finished their conversation, and even when they did look at me, they didn't smile. They asked me my name and told me to sit down. Somebody then fetched me to do my hair. I don't remember the stylist who did my hair, and I don't even remember if I liked my hair afterwards, but I do know I never went back.....and I still remember how they made me feel- like I didn't belong there. Like they were talking about me or looking at me and judging me.
I vowed that as a stylist, I would always greet my clients with a welcoming smile and do my best to put even the most nervous client at ease. In life we often come across situations that make us feel uneasy or out if our comfort zone, but I truly veliev a hair appointment shouldn't be one of them.

Do you want beautiful, low maintenance long hair?
This transformation by Izzy shows how stunning long hair can look when cut into a strong shape, and then the copper red balayage gives warmth and highlights the cut, whilst not tying you in to a high maintenance colour regime. The cut will only need a light reshape every 3-4 months to keep in tip top condition, and the colour will soften and fade to a more coppery colour over time and it will most probably be over 6 months before it really needs much doing to it.

Having previously grown out her old full head colour, my lovely friend felt her hair made her look older than her age.
I did a mix of semi permanent and permanent colour in foils, which will soften and change with washes to a more peachy gold hue.
To showcase the curl, I used a mixture of techniques including razor cutting, and finished the look by drying on Curl Building Serum with a diffuser and finger drying.
I polished the look with Shine wax.
