I’ve spent the morning in Sheerness, installing a shower pump power supply.
How have you been spending your first day of freedom?

That’s the 2nd jab out of the way. Credit to the NHS staff in the Pentagon Shopping Centre for their efficiency 👏🏻

Spotted this on my rounds today. Are any of you planning to go?

St Mary’s Island - Initially went to install 2 socket outlets in the garden but during the pre work testing I discovered an issue with the existing socket wiring.

Besides the damaged cable, where a screw had caught it, I also found a poorly crimped connection.

Now all the sockets are safe for use and I eventually got to complete the original work.

CHATHAM - Garage consumer unit replaced and cooker switch installed today.

CHATHAM - Installing heat and smoke detectors as well as sorting out lighting and prepping lighting points.

PARKWOOD - Replacing and adding some outside lighting, kitchen lighting and tidying up some shed wiring as it was all hanging down.

CHATHAM - Replacement of a consumer unit with a new Click Elucian SPD/ RCBO integrated unit.

Also the existing distributor’s earth had degraded to an unsafe condition so earth rod and inspection pit were installed.

A satisfactory condition report today in sunny Sussex ☀️

ROCHESTER HIGH STREET - Installing an entry system on a communal alleyway gate. Entry can be gained by keypad code or key fob for convenience.

In sunny Sheerness today and installing smoke, heat and carbon monoxide detectors in this property ready for the rental market.

To save on damage to the decor and additional installation time, the AICO range has the option of wireless interlink units. This can prove useful when running cables between units can be difficult.

WALDERSLADE - Consumer unit replacement today, and some remedial work highlighted in a previous condition report.

Back to East Grinstead today to a property rewired around 9 years ago.

Only a few issues with wear and tear and ingress.

The new legislation for private rentals has really proved its necessity as the majority of properties I’ve inspected do not have the required smoke detection (or expired detectors) and now there’s an opportunity to emphasise the responsibility of the landlord to provide appropriate smoke detection.

SHEERNESS - Preparing this property for private rental today and keeping out of the rain ☔️

LORDSWOOD - An electrical report for change of tenancy today and some remedial work to prepare for the new tenant.

Immersion tank dual safety stat and light fittings installed 💡

Can finally get my caffeine fix in the wholesaler again, the AC is on and the cable tongue is hitting the bullseye every time. It’s going to be a good day 😊

GILLINGHAM - A condition report today in this private rental. Unfortunately some issue with the incoming supply from the street.

As far as the property itself, just a burned out extractor fan. Swings and roundabouts

WALDERSLADE- Making my way through the remedial work highlighted by a previous condition report 😊

Not a moment too soon replacing this damaged socket (note the burn mark at the rear where the switch is).

Also replaced these out-dated mirror lights with a clean LED equivalent 👌🏻

An EICR in West Sussex which highlighted a shoddy consumer unit installation circa 2010 where most terminal screws were completely loose.

Further more a lack of testing of the circuits at that time where, among other things, sockets have been left without earthing and a cooker switch/ socket with incorrect polarity. All potential electric shock or fire risks.

WALDERSLADE - an EICR carried out today on a recently purchased property. A cooker hob and some metal light fittings with no earth connection, some suspect additional wiring to sockets and some damaged fittings noted.
