With just two weeks to go until I take on the Madeira Trek, the forest fires and soaring temperatures are definately adding to the challenge!!! But my training is coming on well and I am looking forward to testing myself.

As you may be aware in 2023 I took part in a 3-day trek across the Basque Mountain range in support of the SJP Charitable foundation and myself and my peers raised a considerable amount of money for this very worthwhile charity, whose main focus is on helping children and young people who have special needs or are disadvantaged, both in the UK and Overseas. It also supports mental health, the hospice sector, cancer support and armed forces support charities, and as I am a glutton for punishment, I am doing it all again but this time in Madeira….
So, on Monday 9th September I will be heading off to Madeira for a 3-day trek through forests, villages, and dramatic costal cliffs with the aim of making as much money as I can for the foundation. This will be a gruelling 3-day trek and a real test of my fitness (I am currently in training).

Last week, our team all helped to raise a staggering £42,262 to support the St. James's Place Charitable Foundation, by completing our fair share of the 26,343.17 miles challenge, by either walking or running, virtually, across Italy. The SJP Charitable Foundation supports UK and overseas charities working with children who are disadvantaged physically, socially, or economically. The Foundation also funds hospices, mental health charities and cancer support charities.
