Firming Peptide Mask on a

This ‘red carpet’ Circadia facial includes a double cleanse, a Caviar Lime enzyme peel followed by 30 minutes of this fab firming & tightening mask that combines some of the latest technology in peptide, antioxidant & dermal regeneration science, resulting in micro circulation, detoxification & instant firming, lifting & tightening as well as creating metabolic energy at a cellular level.

🙋‍♀️Why do I need to topically apply retinol to my skin?

👩‍🏫Well tbh these days one doesn’t necessarily NEED retinol cause we actually have alternatives that do exactly the same thing within the Circadian range of products but let’s talk retinol first & get a bit sciency..

* Retinol IS NOT as many believe, a topical exfoliant; the whole point of retinoids/ Vit A is to act as an antioxidant to fight free radical damage, rejuvenate & speed up epidermal keratinocyte cell production and stimulate the dermal fibroblast cells into producing collagen & elastin.

*This means ALL skin types & conditions will benefit; from acneic to aging, pigmented to open pores, sensitive to thickened sun damaged skins!

*Vitamin A is also vital for the immune system.

* It’s probably the most important & definitely the most researched ingredient used in skincare today. It is 💯 % indisputable that it works!

*Retinol is an alcohol form of Vit A.
Retinol can therefore be unstable & cause irritation, thus cosmetic scientists came up with ESTERS which are combos of alcohol + organic acids and therefore make a much more stable molecule to formulate with.

*Retinyl Acetate is the particular ester Circadia uses; it’s 89% retinol + 11% Acetic Acid.
This means it’s really active but less irritating than others on the market.

*Circadia are on the cutting edge of cosmetic science and are currently working on a new, even better form of retinol which will be released later this year! 🎉

*Skin cell production occurs at the Basal layer - literally the bottom layer of the epidermis where the stem cells that create new keratinocyte cells (+ a few others) live.

*As we age this skin cell factory slows down literally by about 50%!

*Retinoids are potent antioxidants that speed up stem cell production,regulation & proliferation resulting in the THICKENING of the lower layers of the epidermis (stratum spinosum and stratum granulosum) AND the thickening of the dermis by triggering an increase in dermal proteins.

*Retinoids make the lower layers thicker BUT they actually cause the Stratum Corneum (h***y outer layer) to thin slightly but DO NOT panic this is
actually GREAT news!!!
Although slightly thinner, it is more compact & the skin actually looks smoother, is more flexible, glowy & loads healthier!

*…..well that is, IF it’s used correctly, & this is where professional guidance is key…..

* Because the protective outer layer is now a bit thinner it is ABSOLUTELY IMPERATIVE to apply an SPF of at least 30 EVERY SINGLE DAY OF THE YEAR because:
1. You will be more light sensitive & burn much quicker.
2. Your skin will be more prone to pigmentation & photodamage.

* When we cleanse our skin, our cells swell with water and the lipids (oils) that surround these tightly packed cells is diluted. This is the perfect environment for applying active ingredients such as Vit C because we want these ingredients to be easily & quickly absorbed into the skin. HOWEVER…

* A DAMP environment is USUALLY THE WORST environment for retinoids! We DO NOT USUALLY want retinoids to pe*****te too deeply or too quickly!

* UNLESS… they are in a time released formula by CIRCADIA! 👏🥼🧬🔬👌

* If you’re new to retinoids or are in your 20’s-30’s, Circadia’s Nighttime Repair is the perfect starting point. It’s a .3% Vit A (Retinyl Acetate) No need to apply Vit C serum before application because NightTime Tepair already has it within the formula!
You can start 2-3x a week and gradually work up to every night as your skin gets used to it.

* Retinoids can cause a purge when you first start using them but remember that a purge (break out) will only ever occur in an area that is usually prone to spots; speeding up cellular turnover will inevitably make this occur quicker than usual so it’s REALLY IMPORTANT to bravely soldier on. Once that wave of spots has gone, the retinol will actually help to keep them away!

*Nighttime Repair Plus is our .5% Retinyl Acetate power house formula containing loads of amazing ingredient’s including Phytosirt (resveratrol) to prevent glycation,
antioxidants such as Vit C & E as well as Roxisomes to repair DNA damage.👌❤️

*Vitamin A Boosting Cream can be used on its own or layered over either of the Nighttime Repair Creams to increase their strength! It’s a 1% Retinyl acetate formula so it’s great for acne scarring or advanced aging.

Nighttime Repair Plus + Vit A Boosting Cream= 1.5%
so should only be used with extreme care as directed by your QUALIFIED skin professional!

Vit A Gel 1% is TRUE retinol.
It’s great for very problematic, high grade acne or highly keratinised, sun damaged skin. (Think Madge in Benidorm or those retired Floridian golfers.) There are no hydrating ingredients in this formula so the skin can get dry & flakey whilst tolerance is building up but it’s really only intended for specific areas not full face.

* Full Circle Night Formula is our superb PM eye Cream that also contains 0.1% Retinyl acetate 👏❤️🙏

*You remember I said you have to follow professional guidance ?
2x layers means double the strength so DO NOT be tempted to apply too much!

*Retinol is a night time product for two specific reasons:

1. It degrades in UV light.

2. Due to our natural Circadian rhythms we actually have 30x more cell turnover during the night even without retinoids!
If it were the opposite way around & it was occurring during daylight hours whilst our DNA 🧬 is unravelling, our DNA would be more prone to cross linkage thus thymine dimers would be created, mutations & possibly skin cancer might occur.
Thus we don’t really want to use Retinoids during the day.

🙋‍♀️But what if my skin just doesn’t like retinoids?
🙋‍♀️I heard you can’t use retinol if you’re pregnant?

*Well, as I alluded to at the beginning Circadia have formulated TWO Retinol alternatives for home use.

We have both Phito-Pep 1.6 and Revita-Cyte Complex which contain (amongst other fab ingredients), Exo-T. This ingredient does the same thing as retinol only it’s non irritating & you CAN ACTUALLY USE IT DURING THE DAY as well as combine it with Retinol at night if you need to!
Alternatively you could use either of these alternative products day &/or night over your Vit C Reversal Serum 😃

* Vitamin A Accelerator is a (treatment room only) 2.5% Retinol. This is used as a stand alone or in addition to our Mandeliclear chemical peel to accelerate physical peeling from the inside out, without causing damage to the skin. 💆🏼‍♀️💆🏾‍♂️
