OPPORTUNITY FOR WORK..

Due to continued expansion of our business, we are looking for a friendly, keen, reliable and hard-working individual to join our team.
This would be on a self-employed basis. Owning your own van is a must, ideally owning basic gardening tools to begin.
Potential opportunities offered would ideally run alongside the individual’s developed or developing customer base.
A good knowledge or an enthusiasm to learn plant types, maintenance practices and a desire to become a turf professional would suit this individual. Training will be given.
Based near Chelmsford and surrounding areas, the individual would be keen to travel within a 30 mile radius - areas including Felsted, Stock, Hutton Mount, Wickham Bishops, Danbury & Lt Baddow. This position is open to Male or female candidates, who must be able show proof of self-employment status.

Benefits of Aeration - Happy soil - Happy grass:
Surface drainage, reduce compaction, airflow (oxygen) into the soil, reduce moss invasion, encourage deeper rooting, oxygen stimulates microorganisms in the soil to release nutrients to grass, discourage fungal activity (turf diseases), allow moisture to get directly to the roots.

Buxus completely savaged by the box caterpillar and getting a bit leggy. Replaced with Euonymus ‘Jean Hugues’. A lovely alternative to buxus and not on the caterpillar radar.

There are definitely worst ways to spend your birthday-day. Always nice to see a marked improvement in any new lawns. These lawns were 50/50 weeds and very sparse grass growth Spring of this year. A couple of treatments and they are fighting the opposition and looking much healthier now. Spring Renovation will take them to the next level.

It’s not just about throwing fertiliser down. Assessing, understanding and putting a plan in place to not only deal with plant nutrition, but the overall health of the environment the grass lives on. Several cultural practices including aeration, scarification and over-seeding were planned and carried out for these lawns, with timings playing a big part in its success.

Teamwork really does make the dream work! Incredible effort by our lovely and enthusiastic customer on watering as advised, during an incredibly dry and warm period, pretty much beginning immediately after we carried out the intense renovation works in my previous post. A summer controlled release granular was applied after its first cut today and will no doubt continue to flourish alongside disciplined watering

2-Day Transformation - to end a very productive and hectic week. A soft - hard-landscaping project completed in 2 days for a really lovely couple who are lucky enough to have my old school friend as a son-in-law. Huge thanks to for making a small project happen smoothly. Special shout out to for supplying incredible soil & turf and for keeping this old man upright. Aeration & Scarification:- REMEMBER - dealing with the health of the soil beneath rather than just fertiliser, fertiliser, fertiliser is the key to a healthy and happy lawn. Grass will take as much chemical as you throw at it, but it will become lazy, reliant and not cope well during stress periods. Similarly to humans - too much of a good thing may eventually cause underlying issues as you can see in the 2nd picture. A build up of decaying root and shoot fibres and decaying organic matter will cause a thick and deep thatch layer, causing a blackening or anaerobic soil (without oxygen) and cause shallow rooting and hold on to too much surface moisture in the Autumn/Winter & and inhibit moisture and oxygen from reaching the soil & roots in warmer/drier periods. Oxygen will allow microorganisms to do all the hard work and keep the plant happy by releasing nutrients. Allow Biology to drive chemistry. Too much chemistry will deplete or kill biology.

Not looking too shabby since an intensive lawn scarify, over-seed and controlled release fertiliser 3 weeks ago.

Work to be done, but nature never fails to impress us

Nice to fit a small job in amongst this bloody awful weather, for the loveliest elderly couple 😊. A little extra work was done F.O.C. as they wonderful people, with endless coffee 😋. Hats off to our suppliers for producing exceptional turf against the odds 👏🏻

Delighted again to be able to support the most amazing charity . These people work tirelessly everyday to make sure local families are given the most amazing support and kindness during their darkest of hours. It’s a true privilege to be able to play a very small part in achieving their goals.

Once again we will be helping this amazing local charity raise much needed funds, a charity which helps so many people during the most traumatic of life events.
