Not to blow our own trumpet, but we have something VERY special on offer right now.

Pre-order a copy of Storylands by Amy Jeffs from our branch and you will be in with the chance to win one of five incredibly beautiful, signed and numbered, linocut prints.

These are quite ridiculously gorgeous, so contact one of our booksellers to place your order ASAP.

We have another fantastic shortlist to announce.

The Arthur C Clarke Award Shortlist for 2021 has landed, and it is a doozy!

25/06/2021

What afantastic collection of books on the Polari First Book Longlist.

24/06/2021

We are so excited to reveal the 2021 longlist for UK Nature Writing! How many of these have you read? Congratulations to the thirteen longlisted authors!

We are devastated to hear that author Lucinda Riley died yesterday.

She is a firm favourite and we know that her incredible Seven Sisters series got a lot of you through lockdown.

Our thoughts are with her family and friends.

Happy publication day to Eva Verde for her bitter-sweet novel Lives Like Mine.

We are pleased to say that we have signed copies of this touching and assured novel available in store now.

01/06/2021

Now it is June we get to celebrate some of the fantastic new books that have arrived in store.

We were so inspired by Palace of Palms by Kate Teltscher that we thought if deserved a window all of its own.

The Times described it as 'A glorious green adventure story.'

Grab your copy and lose yourself in the world of exotic palms, dangerous expeditions, and beautiful glasshouses.

21/05/2021

Congratulations to Shola Von Reinhold for winning the 2021 Republic of Consciousness Prize with her spectacular novel LOTE.

'LOTE analyses themes of beauty, luxury, preservation and power through an intersectional lens as it explores the insidious systems that collude to obscure, destroy and bury Black Q***r history. It exposes archives that, in their erasure, preserve only racism. In equal measure, Shola challenges and indicts, mesmerises and indulges, inspires and empowers their audience with incredible humour, grace, and beauty.' -Cherise Lopes-Baker

We are pleased to be able to offer you this wonderful book when we open at 9am tomorrow morning.

21/05/2021

The Dinner Guest by local Essex author, B.P Walter had been one of our best selling books since we reopened.

We are pleased to say that he has a new book coming out the autumn.

Set between Essex, Kent, and Australia, The Pier is a dark suspense thriller brimming with secrets and lies seeping across three generations. A must-read for fans of Lucy Foley and Rosamund Lupton.

The book is out 11th November so pre-order your copy with one of our booksellers now.

10/05/2021

Did you catch the first part of the new adaptation of The Pursuit of Love last night?

If you are inspired to read more wonderfully witty writings by Nancy Mitford then we have a selection available in store now.

29/04/2021

Ta da!

Introducing the shortlist for the 2021 Women's Prize for Fiction.

Have you read them all? Which one is your pick?

23rd April is a double celebration in England, both St George's Day and the birth and death day of William Shakespeare.

We thought you might like something a little quirky to celebrate, so how about this, an inventive and fresh reworking of Shakespeare's soliloquies and monologues with a Caribbean twist.
Part of the series from Jacaranda Books.
