Support Your Skeleton
Now that we have all survived Halloween! Did you know that osteopathy can work wonders in supporting your skeleton? π¦΄πͺ
Osteopathy is a holistic approach to healthcare that focuses on treating the body as a whole, recognizing that all the systems within us are connected. It aims to improve the body's well-being by enhancing the musculoskeletal system, which includes your precious skeleton.
Here are some amazing ways osteopathy can provide support for your skeleton:
1οΈβ£ Alignment of the spine: Osteopathic treatments can help improve posture. Alleviating muscular tension and excessive pressure on your joints.
2οΈβ£ Reducing aches and pains: Osteopathic techniques can help reduce pain and discomfort in your muscles and joints. This can be especially beneficial for people who work at desk or have strenuous jobs.
3οΈβ£ Enhancing circulation: Osteopathic treatments can enhance blood flow throughout your body, promoting better oxygen and nutrient delivery to your bones. This increased circulation can support bone health and improve healing.
4οΈβ£ Improving flexibility and range of motion: Osteopathy techniques aim to restore balance and mobility to your skeletal system. By addressing any restrictions or stiffness, it can help you regain flexibility and improve your overall range of motion.
5οΈβ£ Preventing injuries: Regular osteopathic check-ups can help identify any vulnerabilities in your musculoskeletal system. By addressing these issues proactively, you can minimise the risk of future injuries and maintain a healthy, well-supported skeletal structure.
Remember, whether you're dealing with specific skeletal issues or simply looking to improve your body's overall function and health, osteopathy can be a valuable ally.
Take care of your skeleton today for a healthier, stronger future! ππͺ

The beauty of nature's design!
Have you ever considered how nature has intricately designed the bodies of animals? We are no different!
Our muscles and connective tissues work harmoniously, allowing movement, stability and flexibility. Not forgetting nature's design equipping our bodies with a remarkable ability to adapt and heal.
Osteopathy, as a manual therapy, acknowledges the body's innate ability to self-regulate and self-heal. It applies gentle techniques to correct imbalances, alleviate pain and enhance the body's natural healing mechanism. By understanding the intricate nature of our body's design, osteopaths can assist in restoring optimal functioning and promote overall well-being.

Are you as flexible as a tree? π²π³π΄
We think of trees as rigid, unmoving structures. However, trees are actually incredibly flexible, able to bend and sway in the wind while remaining firmly rooted to the ground.
Similarly, within ourselves, flexibility and strength are important aspects of health and wellness. They allow us to move freely and perform activities without restriction or pain.
Just like a tree's flexibility helps it adapt to changing weather conditions, our own flexibility helps us adapt to changes in our environment and daily life.
A lack of flexibility and strength can lead to discomfort, stiffness, and even injury. That's why it's important to incorporate stretching and mobility exercises into our daily routines.
So next time you see a tree, take a moment to appreciate its flexible strength and remember to prioritise your own flexibility and mobility for a healthier, more active life.
For any information on how we can help, please don't hesitate to get in touch.

Text Neck - A pain in the neck!
Increased use of electronic devices affects the curvature of the spine, neck and shoulder muscles and supporting ligaments. See starfish example in picture below post.
Some symptoms:
- stiff or pain in shoulders and neck,
- headaches,
- pain behind the eyes,
- tingling and numbness in the hands
Some prevention tips-
- Take breaks from mobiles every 15 minutes,
- Be body aware and tuck the chin back (nose and chin face forwards not down),
- Roll the shoulder blades backwards,
- Hold your mobile at eye level,
- Set reminders to check your posture and chin position.
At DW Osteopathy we can create individual programmes to improve posture, increase flexibility and muscle function to achieve pain free enjoyment of modern electronic devices.

Have a great weekend!
How heavy is your head?
These images show how just a small forward displacement of the head can increase the amount of pressure on the muscles and joints of the neck.
Sustained postures like these in the images cause the muscles and joints to become tired and irritated. This can then lead to:
-
-
-
-
- arm pain
- trapped nerve pain
It is when we are engrossed in our phone, tablet or laptop that we do not pay enough attention to the posture of our neck or upper back.
Do these postures or symptoms feel familiar?
