At the end of the Castleโ€™s Conferenceโ€™s first inaugural meeting, Barbara Spooner MBE of Digital Safety, expresses her delight at how well it went. The takeaway was exactly what she had hoped for, and the people that came collaborated and conversed to excellent results. The enthusiasm and excitement in the room showed that people really care about the topic, and while the digital space, in terms of mental health, has not been fully explored yet, they look forward to going further with it. Do you have any views on this topic youโ€™d like to share? Then come along to the Castle Conference on 25th April 2024 at Leigh Court, and together, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of our youth. Today on Safer Internet Day and Lily would like to share a few words on what to do if you are being cyberbullied. Cyberbullying is when someone uses technology to harass, threaten, embarrass, or target another person. It happens on devices like smartphones, computers, tablets, and gaming systems. Cyberbullying can have a huge impact on a young person, and it can affect them in different ways, including: Mentally โ€“ feeling upset, embarrassed, stupid, even afraid or angry. Emotionally โ€“ feeling ashamed or losing interest in the things they love/ Physically โ€“ tired (loss of sleep), or experiencing symptoms like stomach aches and headaches. For expert tips for parents to help you talk about cyberbullying with your child, follow the link below. https://www.internetmatters.org/issues/cyberbullying/cyberbullying-conversation-starter-guide/ Advice to help support young people being bullied, see link below. https://www.nationalbullyinghelpline.co.uk/cyberbullying.html #SaferInternetDay

Set up devices safely using Parental Controls. If your child has received a new device for Christmas, you need to ensure it is set up safely using parental controls. Parental controls are settings that let you control what content your child can see. Combine these with privacy settings, you can help you protect your children from several online safety issues such as inappropriate content, online grooming, and cyberbullying. Internet Matters provide information and safety settings for your child's devices and apps. https://www.internetmatters.org/ Take a look at the link below for step-by-step guides in safety and privacy settings. https://www.internetmatters.org/parental-controls/ #Lily'sTopTips #TopTipThursday
