Lumley Lodge 5807
Lumley Lodge 5807 is a Masonic Lodge based in Chester-le-Street, Co Durham.
It operates under the auspices of the United Grand Lodge of England, and the Provincial Grand Lodge of Durham.
A fabulous meeting last night with 50 brethren in attendance.
Collections were made for FOUR different good causes: a local youth football club; Durham Care & Support; The Charlie and Carter Foundation; and, of course, our own Masonic Charitable Foundation.
The Charlie and Carter Foundation alone benefitted from a collection of £120!
*EDIT* this was in addition to the £160 brethren from the lodge had already donated individually online.
Lumley Lodge is proud to be the sponsor of this new lodge - indeed many of the founding members of Gambrinus Lodge are also members of Lumley Lodge.
We're all really excited for the consecration in a few weeks' time.

A fantastic night at Lumley Lodge. Congratulations to Bro Memon and Bro Scott on attaining their 3rd Degree.
Charity is "the distinguishing characteristic of a Freemason's heart" and so my son and I and I are climbing Snowdon in June in aid of the Charlie and Carter Foundation.
This is a small charity which provides emergency grants for families facing the imminent loss of a child. To find out more visit www.charlieandcarterfoundation.org.uk

Great to see the Freemasons supporting the London Air Ambulance at the Lord Mayor's Show
The October meeting at Lumley Lodge is always special - it's the meeting where we install our new Worshipful Master for the next year.
This time we had the absolute pleasure of installing Worshipful Brother Neil Bains. Neil is a long standing and popular member of the lodge and the brethren were thrilled to see him finally attain 'the chair'.
The ceremony was performed by the outgoing Master WBro John Praill, who belied his 93 years to install his successor with real sincerity.
An excellent evening looking forward to an exciting year for the lodge.
Congratulations Worshipful Master!
The brethren of Lumley Lodge are saddened to hear of the passing of WBro Derek Tindale, who died peacefully in his sleep on Friday night.
Derek had served as our Assistant Director of Ceremonies for several years and was still performing his duties in this role as recently as last week.
He was a dearly loved and respected member of the lodge and will be greatly missed.
RIP Derek. You lived respected and have died regretted.
Fantastic meeting tonight. Wonderful to be back in the lodge after the summer recess. 😃
Ever wonder what Freemasonry is all about?
Freemasonry is a fraternity that traces its origins back several centuries. As a Mason, I can explain it to you in simple terms. Freemasonry is a system of moral and philosophical teachings, symbolically conveyed through rituals and ceremonies. It's a society of individuals who share common values like integrity, brotherhood, and personal growth.
Freemasonry uses tools and symbols from the craft of stonemasonry to illustrate moral lessons. These symbols, such as the square, compass, and apron, represent concepts like truth, equality, and self-discipline. Masons gather in lodges, which are like local chapters, to conduct meetings and engage in discussions on various topics.
While Freemasonry has historical ties to stonemasons' guilds, it's not a trade organization. Instead, it focuses on personal development and self-improvement, aiming to make good men better. Masons support charitable causes and community service, promoting the welfare of others.
One of the key aspects of Freemasonry is the bond of brotherhood. Masons treat each other with respect and kindness, and they strive to build strong relationships based on trust and support. It's a place where individuals from different backgrounds come together to find common ground and work towards common goals.
However, Freemasonry is also known for its privacy. Masonic rituals and ceremonies are kept confidential, which adds an element of mystery to the fraternity. It's this combination of shared values, symbolism, and brotherhood that defines Freemasonry.
