We were lucky enough to visit the Venice biennale 2024 - the 60th edition - an international contemporary art exhibition. The title for the exhibition was "Foreigners Everywhere" - curated by Stranieri Ovunque.

This exhibition gives you a powerful showcase of what international artist's are making - what mediums are at the forefront of conversation and an idea of style, palette and methods in current artist's practices.

I must say that I've been to the Venice biennale in 2015 "All The World's Future's" which was a lot of video/digital art which I was very happy to see lots of sculpture, tapestries and paintings this year! Some of the other imagery is from our travels - street art was very good in Bologna.

We are now back from our honeymoon to Italy! We had a fantastic time exploring Venice, Bologna, Cinque Terre and Florence. Here is just a sneak peak of some of the beautiful views....and beautiful art shops we visited!

I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone who attended this week’s oil painting class. Many of you already know that I’m getting married this weekend, and I was incredibly touched by the surprise celebration you all organized during our last session. Both Anna and I are truly grateful for your thoughtfulness and the amazing gifts. I’m so lucky to have such a wonderful community in our Cheshire Art Classes.

I’m looking forward to seeing you all again on Tuesday, 24th September, after our wedding and honeymoon in Italy!

Thank you to everyone who attended our second 'Alla Prima Landscape Painting' Course this morning. Great to see you all and well done for achieving a beautiful oil painting in just 4 hours! Really love the palette and expressive marks - amazing to see so many differences between each painting to show how each artist has different intentional brush marks.

Huge well done to all the children who attended 'part 2' of our Children's Watercolour Painting Course on Floral landscapes! Love the combinations of colours and techniques we've learnt over 2 sessions. You've all made some inspiring paintings with such energy and excitement.

We've had a very busy day on part 1 of our Children's Watercolour painting course where we all painted Galaxies! We have all had a lot of fun experimenting with watercolours today, using rock salt, cling film, masking fluid, and acrylic ink to achieve a range of mark-making! We have chosen our photograph for this weekend's Alla Prima Landscape Painting on Saturday 31st August 10am - 2pm. We apply a cut-out filter to the image reduce the detail to a series of simple forms - this makes it easier to paint wet-on-wet. This process also limits the palette - making it easier to find subtle violet hues across the whole image.
