Gareth Lawrence - Working Hard for Lache
Conservative and Unionist Party candidate for the May 2023 Local Elections
Vote Gareth Lawrence - Working Hard for Lache today
Tomorrow is an important day in Cheshire West and Chester. If you live in the borough vote Conservative so that we can get rid of the mediocre and entitled Labour administration. If you live in Lache Ward please vote for me. My Labour opponent thinks she has a right to the Ward and has no record of achievement she is prepared to tell anyone about.
End Tax to the Max
End the Green Bin Tax
Repair our roads and pavements
Repair the Walls
Enjoy Free After 3 Parking in Chester and everywhere else in West Cheshire.
Protect and enhance our precious undeveloped green spaces.
Vote Gareth Lawrence on 4 May
A fourth reason to vote for me on 4 May is that a Conservative administration will not vote to increase your Council Tax by the maximum every year. I know it’s your hard earned money, not CWaCs and any Council administration should take great care in using the money entrusted to it.
The third reason to vote for me on 4 May to represent all residents of Lache Ward is that a Conservative run Council will increase the budget to repair our roads and pavements by £1.5m
Another reason to vote for me on 4 May. Free after 3 parking in Chester was a very popular thing until ‘no vision’ Labour abolished it.
A reason to vote for me in Lache Ward on 4 May
Thought for today having read my opponents leaflet. Lache Ward does feel like the forgotten area of Chester. However having had a Labour councillor while Labour has been in power this is still the case. What have Labour done for Lache Ward? The answer is not much beyond provide a councillor who follows the party line in the council chamber and says very little outside it. If you want positive change vote for Gareth Lawrence - Working Hard for Lache on 4 May.
The second thought is that my opponent appears to have forgotten about Saltney.
I will get things done and fight hard for Lache and Saltney.
Todays campaigning thought is about Sanctuary Housing and the concerns expressed to me by various residents of the Lache throughout my campaign. Today concerns were raised by two residents who were concerned about being fobbed off and booked repairs not being carried out. I have emailed a manager at Sanctuary to make them aware but I’ve had to do this regularly. I do wonder if the current Labour councillor takes this neglect as seriously as I do.
If I am elected to represent Lache Ward on 4 May I will have my own pothole/fly tipping and any other issue hotline which will mean these issues can be sorted out asap rather than waiting for the slow moving bureaucracy to spring into action. I know how to pull levers and push buttons to get stuff done.
If you want the state of your roads and pavements to be properly addressed vote for Gareth Lawrence - Working Hard for Lache on 4 May. A Conservative CWaC will increase the road repair budget by 50% to £4.5m per year.
This is St Mark's Road which has a 20mph speed limit. Although most drivers drive within the limit some don't and this presents a danger to other road users. If elected in Lache Ward I will campaign for speed reduction measures such as chicanes to be introduced as well as working with Cheshire Police for more effective enforcement of the limit.
This will be very welcome news for residents, just announced in the Budget today. Just think what it might have been if CWaC Labour had agreed to our plan for nearly £2million more locally which we proposed just a few weeks ago.
This building is Hawthorn House on Hawthorn Road, Lache. It has been effectively abandoned by Labour controlled CWaC. There is at least one community based group that wants to utilise Hawthorn House for the good of local children. Labour has no ambition to allow Hawthorn House back into use and CWaC doesn't know who is responsible for it. If I am elected as Lache Ward councillor on 4 May I will campaign to bring Hawthorn House back into use, not leave it to rot away behind locked gates and shutters.
Vote Gareth Lawrence on 4 May for effective representation of the community.
This is a pothole in Lache Hall Crescent. They are everywhere across Lache Ward, Chester and West Cheshire because the Labour controlled Council won’t invest in roads maintenance. If the Conservatives win control of CWaC the road maintenance budget will be increased by 50% to £4.5m.
🆕New research reveals the true state of roads in Cheshire West and Chester under the ruling Labour administration. We have the THIRD worst in the whole of England with 72% needing improvement. Labour (and their friends) had a chance to change that at the Budget Council on 16th February when we proposed an additional £2million for the highways maintenance budget. They said NO! Our Vision for Cheshire West and Chester
Our Key Pledges:
1. Council Tax
End the 8-year cycle of Labour’s ’Tax to the Max’ which has seen your Council Tax go up by over 40%.
2. Parking
‘Free after Three’, new borough-wide Parking Policy supporting ‘shop local’ and the night-time economy, by working with businesses to build back our high streets.
3. Roads & Pavements
Tackling our deteriorating infrastructure – by increasing the Highways Maintenance budget by 50% to £4.5m pa, reversing Labour’s cuts of £1.5m pa since 2015. Raising the quality of our A-roads (currently below 40%) to 70% green quality.
4. Green Bin Tax
Abolish the Green Bin Tax by the end of the next Administration, starting with £10 reduction in Year 1.
5. Chester Walls
Reinstate the ring-fenced budget to proactively maintain and protect one of our Borough’s most historic assets.
Good news! More support for families in Chester!
Yesterday the Government announced a further £842m in support for families most in need via the Household Support Fund.
In Cheshire West & Chester that means an additional £4.58m to help the most vulnerable with the rising cost of living.

Labour taxes residents in to the max!
Year after year since taking control of CWAC in 2015, Labour have increased council tax on Chester's residents.
Last night was no exception as they voted, with the help of Lib Dems and the Greens, to raise your Council Tax by 4.99%.
Is your extra money going to fixing our roads? NO - Labour voted that down.
Perhaps to improving road safety? NO - Labour voted that down.
Send Labour a message this May and say enough is enough!
More Tax to the Max from Failing and Wasteful CWaC Labour.
Help to protect your green areas and stop CWaC pouring your hard earned Council Tax payments down the drain on wasteful consultants.
What did we learn from last nights public meeting at Lache Community Centre on the Lache Masterplan?
1. The consultants were paid £50,000 to produce the Lache Masterplan. As the report has proven in many respects to be not fit for purpose does this represent value for your Council Tax payments? I would suggest not.
2. CWaC, despite promising to communicate with all residents affected by the proposals have failed to do something as simple as get a letter delivered to the Stanley Park Drive area.
3. No presumption to develop does not mean there will never be development of The Sidings. Cllr Beacham may think me cynical but the simple fact is there are elections in May and what is off the table now may be back on it on May 5 if Labour wins.
4. The point was made a number of times by concerned residents that if there is not going to be development what is the point of an ecological report on The Sidings. Nature seems to be doing well without one and again is this best use of Council Tax payers money?
There is another Lache Ward Public Meeting to discuss the Lache Masterplan at Lache Community Centre on Thursday 9 February starting at 5pm.
5.00pm - 5.30pm (drop-in anytime) – a chance to look at and comment on the emerging sketch plans for Sycamore Park; as well as ask any questions about the other emerging projects and give your views.
5.30pm - 6.30pm (usual public forum format, with council update and summary of next steps) – a chance to hear summary of feedback from others, next steps and ask questions to Portfolio Holder for Regeneration.
Let CWaC hear your voice and attend if you can.
