Reporting back: tonight, an Extraordinary Council meeting was held in response to the new Government targets to build 35,000 homes in Wirral, instead of the 14,000 previously agreed.

Across the parties, the 🟨 Liberal Democrats 🟩Greens and 🟦 Conservatives (including Lesley and Ian) voted for the main proposal to protect our Green Belt and designated 'Local Green Spaces' around Wallasey, and reject the Government formula. Sadly ❎Labour Councillors voted against but were outvoted.

The Council will now submit a response to the 106 questions in the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government consultation, stressing the need to protect our Green Belt and request the support of the four MPs as well.

CEC Leader resigns before a Vote of No Confidence At full Council today, in advance of the Conservative Notice of Motion calling for a vote of no confidence in his leadership, Cllr Sam Corcoran announced that he would stand down as leader of Council.

Our very best wishes to Reverend Alan Ward, and Caroline, as they retire from St. Hilary's Church, Wallasey after 13 years of service to our community.

It was a privilege for us to join their many friends at the recent service.

🇬🇧 Today, we are marking Armed Forces Day with a clear commitment to meet the Help for Heroes Veterans’ Pledge, as we recognise the duty, dedication and selfless personal sacrifice of our service men and women and build a more secure Britain.

We owe a huge amount to our brave service men and women who put their lives on the line to protect us all.

To mark Armed Forces Day, we are announcing bold action to meet the Help for Heroes Veterans’ Pledge on top of our clear plan to implement the Northern Ireland Legacy Act, including keeping the Office for Veterans’ Affairs, led by a Cabinet attending minister, and ensuring veterans get the benefits and compensation they deserve.

Labour still refuse to back our clear plan to spend 2.5 per cent of GDP on defence by 2030, Keir Starmer’s candidate for Foreign Secretary is a man who wanted to scrap our nuclear deterrent and his Shadow Defence Secretary served under Jeremy Corbyn who wanted to abolish the army and withdraw from NATO.

Only the Conservatives will back our armed forces, support veterans, and build a more secure future for Britain.

📚 Giving every child the best start in life

I’ve had the pleasure of visiting every school and meeting with every Headteacher in Warrington South over the last four years, I’ve met Governors, teachers, pupils and parents to hear about their needs. Education is the nearest thing we have to a sliver bullet for improving the lives of our children which is why I’ve pushed to secure the highest level of funding in real terms for schools in our area.

Before being elected to Parliament I was a Chair of Governors at a Warrington School, I care about tackling pupil absence and ensuring pupil behaviour is a priority in the classroom so that students can focus on learning and getting every opportunity that comes their way.

Standards in our local schools have also improved over the last ten years, today every school in Warrington South is rated as good or outstanding, up from just over 65% in 2010. Both reading and maths have improved in schools across the country and were now acknowledged as ‘the best in the west’ for literacy.

I’m committed to making sure that as well as having great teachers we also improve facilities for children in schools, which is why I’ve pushed hard to rebuild Penketh High School, securing £6million from the Government and £millions more to undertake repairs and improvements at almost every school in the constituency.

On 4th July I’m asking for your support so that I can continue to make sure our schools get the resources they need and the support leaders need to give our children the best start in life.

Today, we remember the Greatest Generation in commemoration of the 80th anniversary of D-Day, who ended fascism and liberated Europe from tyranny. We are committed to preserving their memory and remembering their sacrifice.

We must never forget.

Since 2021 I have delivered more police and safer streets in , with:

✔️ 322 extra police officers - we now have the highest number of officers ever in the force's history.
✔️ Calls answered faster - over 90% of all 999 calls are answered within 10 seconds and 101 answer times down to 5 minutes.
✔️ A tough on crime approach with arrests up 30%.

The plan is working and we've made real progress in . But all of this is at stake at this election.
