Merry Christmas, all! π
π May your day be filled with festive joy and laughter.
As we celebrate, let's also remember those facing difficult times, sending them an extra dose of warmth and support. Together, we can make this season brighter for everyone. ππ€
It took three months of me asking the same question, but Mayor Welch has finally admitted that he failed to declare an interest and voted on awarding our town's Christmas lights contract to an associate of his who drinks in his pub and has done work for them. The contract value was more than Β£20,000 - and that's without the Christmas tree! π
Mayor Welch promised he'd save money on the Christmas lights, saying they could be installed for around Β£6,000. Instead, there's no real saving compared to previous years, just a job that others have commented isn't up to the usual standard π
Mayor Welch was able to do this deal thanks to the members of Winsford Salt of the Earth who supported him. They'll all be on Santa's naughty list and I'm wondering which of their associates will be in line for the next contract π€₯
We are delighted that at last we have found a new warehouse. We are moving over this weekend so as of Monday morning we will be at our new address for any donations.
You better watch out, you better not cry... π

The underpass at Oakhouse Lane has now been pumped out and is usable again.
Following up on who owns the problem, I can now confirm this is a Highways job and not United Utilities, so future problems should get sorted out much more quickly.
Contrary to some of my earlier comments, there was a manhole cover under the water and the Colas team were able to lift this and inspect the pipework. The bad news is that there are a lot of roots in the out let pipe from the man hole and this needs further work to cut these out.
This explains why it was flooding and draining last year, but flooding and not draining this year.
I'm working with Highways to get this sorted out so we have a permanent solution, or as permanent as anything can be when it's six metres underground and under a run of trees.
I'll keep you updated as and when I have more information.
Labour stands with Winsford families.
The Winsford Academy was recently closed to children in Year 8 and Year 9 and it's understandable that parents have concerns. They are asking for a meeting with The Winsford Academy.
I'm 100% behind them, and earlier today I sent this letter to the CEO of The Fallibroome Trust and Acting Principal of The Winsford Academy in support of the parents of Winsford children.
I hope that the meeting is arranged as a priority.
Do you think water bosses should still get bumper bonuses after dumping sewage in the River Weaver?
We donβt. We're calling on the government to give the water regulator the power to ban bosses' bonuses until they clean up their filth.
Add your name π
Add your name today We think itβs shocking that during a cost-of-living crisis, consumers face higher bills while water bosses pocket millions in bonuses.

It's about time Winsford was rid of its latest in a long line of absent Tory MPs that treat this town as an afterthought.
We need an MP that's rooted in our community, prepared to work hard locally, and that will finally give our town a voice in Westminster.
With Andrew Cooper for Mid Cheshire, Winsford can have that change.
Councillor picked as MP candidate for new battleground seat A Northwich councillor has been chosen to fight the new Mid Cheshire seat for Labour at the next election.
I'm absolutely thrilled to announce that I've selected as Labour's candidate for Mid Cheshire. The people of our three great salt towns deserve better than this government. I can't wait to meet as many people as possible over the next year and hear their aspirations for our communities.
Thank you so much to Labour Party members that have placed their trust in me. I will work each and every day to demonstrate to the people of Mid Cheshire the difference a Labour Government can make.
Today and every day, we remember the heroes who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.
On Armistice Day, we honour those who gave everything for the enduring values of peace and freedom. Their sacrifice echoes in our hearts, a reminder to cherish the precious gifts they secured for us.

There's been a lot of talk about reopening the closed toilets near the Post Office in Winsford Town Centre lately. These are the same toilets that Winsford Salt of the Earth promised to reopen.
The only thing stopping Winsford Salt of the Earth from delivering on their promises is Winsford Salt of the Earth - they won 14/15 Winsford Town Council seats back in May and still hold 11/15 of them today.
Despite the chaos at Winsford Town Council with Winsford Salt of the Earth, Cheshire West & Chester Council are busy delivering their Β£22m regeneration of Winsford Town Centre. There is lots to look forward to including additional toilets for public use, as well as those already available today in Winsford Lifestyle Centre, Winsford Library, Wyvern House and various businesses. As somebody who calls Winsford home and as the Cheshire West Cabinet Member for Regeneration, I'm committed to delivering on Labour's promises to Winsford and the borough.
Winsford Salt of the Earth councillors are suggesting I've refused to meet with Cllr Ernie Welch to discuss additional toilets. This is not true - I've said I will meet him and his councillors if they can make their minds up about how they will fund their promises. I have refused a separate 1:1 meeting with Cllr Welch as I will not meet any councillor informally if they ignore reports of violence by candidates they promote.
Winsford Salt of the Earth are in charge of Winsford Town Council and it's up to them to deliver on their promises π€₯

It's time to get Britain's future back π¬π§ πΉ
Listening to Keir Starmer today, I know that he will fight for working people as will all of us in the Labour Party.
The next Labour Government led by Keir Starmer will bring a decade of national renewal, transforming our infrastructure, creating quality green jobs of the future and unleashing the potential of communities up and down the land.
It's time to get our future back π¬π§
These plans would be a game changer in Winsford. Private developers have wriggled out of their Section 106 obligations to deliver infrastructure along with housing in the past, leaving residents angry and dissatisfied
βUnder Labourβs plans, the party would prevent developers from βwriggling outβ of their affordable housing obligations, known as section 106 rules, by setting up a new expert unit to give councils and housing associations advice to get the best deal during negotiations with property firms.
It would publish guidance to prevent developers claiming that building more affordable homes was not viable, permitting them to challenge 106 rules only if there were genuine barriers to building homes.β

The results are in and I'm delighted to have been elected by Dene residents to Winsford Town Council π³οΈ

I'm appalled that Dave Edwards, one of the candidates in the by-election this Thursday, is the latest to face allegations by the Winsford Residents Association page and Cllr Simon Boone.
I'm not surprised this has happened, this campaign of hate is something that my wife and family have endured for years. It's something that my friends, colleagues and their loved ones have faced too. The tactics are always the same, only the victims change.
The leadership of Winsford Salt of the Earth was happy to overlook this behaviour up until the point it was their group being affected.
I'm as desperate as the rest of the town to move on but this can only happen if the leadership of Winsford Salt of the Earth admit they got it badly wrong by supporting Cllr Simon Boone.
