Every year we get all of our Managers, Deputies and Head Chefs in the same room for what we call 'a bit of a Do'. We re-group for the coming year and celebrate the last and generally enjoy catching up with each other over some good food, drink and music.

Some faces you might recognise at this year’s Northern B&P Crew BBQ.

Happy Bees = Happy B&Ps!

On the 14th May 2024, 38 B&P crew members from 17 pubs across the country took on the massive challenge of hiking 28 miles of Snowdonia’s less trodden paths including summiting 8 mountains while they were at it. The day started by head torch at 3am with the last hikers coming in a staggering 19 hours later (under torch light again!) after achieving the full route. Incredible effort by everyone who laced up their boots that morning and the team managed to raise over £4500 for their chosen charities in the process. We couldn’t be prouder. #brunningandprice #bandplife #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealthawarenessweek #ardaoutdoors #charityevent #hospitalitylife

There is something quite wonderful about a riverside pub on a sunny day. Here’s The Woodbridge Inn, overlooking the River Severn at Coalport, Telford. www.woodbridge-coalport.co.uk

Some faces you might recognise? Our ‘Annual B&P Southern Crew BBQ’ yesterday at the Prae Wood Arms … even the sun made the tiniest of appearances!

In 2023 we recycled 245,897 litres of used cooking oil. It is turned into biodiesel, so will have saved the equivalent of 524 tonnes of carbon emissions.

With the help of our wonderful crew separating our rubbish into glass, general, card and food, we manage to divert 99% of our waste from landfill. (Which we are pretty chuffed about!)

The Annual Christmas Bake Off Day in HQ didn’t disappoint!

It’s our most loved day of the year – ‘Company Do’ Day. The day we get every Manager, Deputy Manager, Head Chef and HQ all together under the same roof (or tent) in order to reflect on the previous year, make plans for the new, highlight areas of brilliance and generally say thank you - you might recognise a few faces from your local? There’s always drink, of many different varieties and there are always dubious dance moves (which is why we stop filming reasonably early in the evening!). This year was no exception. We held the 'sensible part' at Chester Racecourse (and adopted a race theme – we love a theme!) and then walked the short way up to the Architect Chester for food, games, chatting and drinks, then we (literally) marched everyone up to Rosies (those from Chester will know, it’s an institution – a right of passage!) where we pole danced to our hearts were content - perhaps not something you see your favourite Pub Manager do everyday!? Every year we run a competition across all of our pubs to crown creators of the best dishes. Each pub enters a junior chef and front of house partnership to represent them in our company wide competition to develop and reward our rising stars. Round 1 is a spec test where each team has to make the same mystery dish exactly to the recipe. All of the dishes are then judged by our panel of lucky judges, ala ‘Great British Bake Off’ to decide which is the most perfect (and tastiest). In round 2 the team can choose from a whole larder of ingredients available on the day to devise a main course and a dessert to present after 3 hours, ala ‘Master Chef!’. Margins were very close, but Sutton Hall’s Steve and Cat were crowned this year’s overall winners. Congratulations to all. They win a prize for their efforts and the winners are taken on a fantastic culinary experience. It was a brilliant day all round, we saw some amazing talent and we owe Cheshire South & West College huge thanks for hosting us fantastically at their Ellesmere Port Campus and Royal Greenland for their kind sponsorship.
