Are you looking for great quality reusable nappies?
There are lots of cheap nappy options available these days but, in the main, they tend to have limited absorbency, reduced waterproofing, and can struggle to last baby right through to potty training (never mind, last for baby number 2).
If you want a really reliable brand, look no further than Mother-ease Cloth Diapers. The Wizard Uno (all-in-one nappy) and Wizard Duo (all-in-2 nappy) are super-easy to use, while the Motherease Sandy, used with a Motherease Airflow wrap, forms a fabulous 2-part nappy system.
If this all sounds a little confusing and you'd like some advice on how to get started with Motherease nappies (or any other brand), just get in touch. We're happy to talk you through the options as well as the practicalities of using cloth. If you're close to Chester you can make an appointment for a free 1-to-1 consultation where you can ask as many questions as you wish.
Also bear in mind that we're happy to accept reusable nappy vouchers from Real Nappies for London, Flintshire County Council, Denbighshire County Council and Warrington Borough Council.

Finding the right brand to suit you, your baby and your lifestyle is really important. There are masses of brands out there and different brands will suit different families.
You'll need to take into account:
- size and shape of baby
- ease of use (important if baby is going to nursery etc)
- budget
- drying facilities
- fabric requirements eg organic
With different brands, sizes, fabrics etc available it's easy to get in a bit of a muddle.
A lot of parents start off by getting advice from friends and family, others will just buy randomly online, however the best way is to get some personalised advice. What suits one person won't always suit another - babies are different shapes, homes may have different drying facilities, some parents may opt for organic fabrics. The best sources of advice will be:
Your local nappy library- here you can talk to parents who are already using cloth. You can discuss brands and go through the everyday practicalities of using real nappies. You may be surprised that they're a lot easier to use than you may think - meeting other parents (in person or online) should give you confidence in giving it a go (particularly if you're not getting much support from family and friends.
A specialist real nappy retailer / advisor - some retailers, like us, have years of experience in using and selling cloth nappies. Assuming they stock (and understand) a range of brands, they should be able to advise you on which brands will suit you best. It helps to meet advisors in person but they can offer advice by phone and email too. Here at Lizzie's Real Nappies we try to narrow things down for you, suggesting a small number of brands which are likely to suit you. We always recommend that parents try a few brands before making any decisions to get a feel for the differences between the nappies in terms of fit, absorbency, containment, drying times etc.
It's also worth talking to your local council to see if they offer any real nappy incentives. Some offer cashback or vouchers.
Remember you can just start out small, with a few trial nappies. This will allow you to compare the options and see how you get on.
Feel free to get in touch

When considering cloth nappies, parents have a good number of concerns. Here are a few:
1. I don't like the idea of a stinky wet nappy bucket
Washable nappies no longer need to be soaked. They are perfectly fine stored in a dry, lidded, nappy bucket.
2. Don't you need boil wash?
Absolutely not. Real nappies are fine washed at 40 degrees.
3. I don't have a tumble dryer.
Most washable nappies these days can be dried without a tumble dryer. Bamboo and organic cotton is slower drying but parents find heated airers and dehumidifiers to be useful when you can't get them on the line.
4. Won't baby get nappy rash?
This is normally as a result of teething (or a change in diet, a reaction to baby wipes etc). It is very unlikely to be the result of moving to cloth nappies.
5. None of my friends use them and they think I'm mad.
We often hear this. People who haven't looked into modern cloth nappies tend to think of terry squares, pins, plastic pants, soaking, and boiling on the hob - no wonder they think you're crazy! Things have, however, changed.
I, personally, was encouraged to use real nappies by a friend. I have to say it was a bit scary at first and many people did think I was crazy. It's a lot of money to pay upfront when you really don't know if they'll work for you. The best thing you can do is to get some advice. Here, at Lizzie's Real Nappies, we can advise you on which brands are most likely to suit you. We then recommend you get a few trial nappies to see the differences in terms of fit, absorbency, containment, drying times etc. This will put you in a far better position to let you know what real nappies are all about.
6. My friend bought some and hated them.
There are a lot of brands on the market. Some are very good while others are pretty poor, so do your research and talk to somone who can offer you personalised advice. You'll need to consider: size and shape of baby, drying facilities, ease of use, budget etc.
7. Won't they leak?
Yes, like disposables, they can, but once you've learned how to put them on correctly they should be fine. Get in touch if you have concerns - it's normally easy to rectify.

Reusable Nappy Week Motherease Appreciation UK Hackney Real Nappy Network Real Nappies for London
It's Reusable Nappy Week Day 1 and I though it would be great to start off by discussing parents main reasons for switching to cloth.
My own reason was simply the size of my bin. Babies use an average of 6-7 nappies a day, that's around 45 a week and so, for most of us, with fortnightly bin collections, that's around 90 nappies in your bin at each collection. Most nappies are still simply dumped in the ground and forgotten about, taking, it's estimated, around 500 years to break down! The UK throws away around 3 billion single-use nappies annually. That really is quite a number!!
What were your reasons? Environment, saving money, chemicals against baby's skin, or just how amazingly cute they are???
I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Motherease Bedwetter Pants are back in stock.
Although a lot of toddlers are potty trained during the day by around 2.5 years, many continue to be wet at night for a number of years beyond this.
It's a tricky time because they want to be grown up, wearing big girl/boy pants, but they need a lot of absorbency to get them through the night without wetting the bed.
Washable Bedwetter Pants by Mother-ease Cloth Diapers act as pull-up pants but can be washed and used again, massively cutting down on the waste produced by single use, disposable pull-up pants. They have no poppers or velcro which makes them easy for your child to use on their own, but this means that it's difficult to adjust the sizing. If they fit well, they'll be fabulous, but if the sizing isn't quite right for your child, you're likely to get leakage. For this reason we always recommend checking the size chart on the website (helpfully it gives leg, waist and weight measurements). If you then choose to buy some, we suggest trying them on your child (over a pair of pants) to make sure they fit well. If they're too tight, they'll dig in; if they're too loose, they'll leak. They should fit snugly at the waist and legs.
In addition to this, in order to provide sufficient absorbency, they are quite chunky looking. Some children are fine with this, while other children will refuse to wear them. Again, it's definitely worth trying them on, checking the fit, and checking your child's reaction to them, before using or washing them.
As always, if you have any questions just get in touch x

Baba & Boo washable menstrual pads are a great alternative to single-use disposable sanitary pads. They come in 3 sizes, so cover spotting through to over-night use. Just use, rinse out, wash in your macine, and use again. I wing popper hold tge pad in place.
3 for 2 on Newborn Nappies by Motherease Wizard Uno and Baba & Boo
If you're looking for tiny, easy to use, reusable nappies for your newborn, look no further than the Motherease Wizard Uno Newborn and the Baba & Boo Newborn. Both are all-in-one (so the absorbent part and the waterproof part are all sewn in together). They fit from around 6lbs through to 12lbs (for the Motherease) and 18lbs (for the Baba&Boo). They're ideal for those who are keen to use reusable nappies from birth, cutting out disposable nappies completely. Once baby gets to 10-12lbs you can then start using 'Onesize' nappies which will fit through to potty training.
We currently have a 3 for 2 offer on the Motherease Uno Newborn and the Baba and Boo Newborn nappies. This offer is a mix and match offer, with the cheapest nappy coming free. Just add all 3 nappies (or 6, or 9 etc) to your basket to get the 3rd free.
