Tenax Fasteners are British made and have an outstanding reputation of being one of the best heavy-duty systems available.

Specifically suited to testing marine conditions, where resistance to corrosion is paramount, Tenax snap-lock fasteners have a standard sizing profile. There are two parts to Tenax snap fasteners; the female Tenax button and the male Tenax stud. These are used in conjunction with each other and the button is attached to the material with a locking ring or ‘nut’, which is tightened using a special fastening key.

SS315 - 3 Ply Softshell by Marino. The windproof outer shell is a blend of Polyester and Spandex with 4 way stretch and a Teflon water repellent finish. There is then a TPU film providing a waterproof yet breathable barrier. The inner fabric is a cost Polar fleece for additional warmth.

NTW - Tubular webbing consists of a flattened tube of webbing material, giving the extra strength and support needed for heavy duty applications. It is generally stronger than flat webbing.

"2 new craft mats drafted up. Need some thoughts about how to edge them better but I’m happy with how they’ve turned out. Farriers chap leather from Abbey England, canvas from Point North and a felted wool core from Anglo Technical Textiles. This thing will take almost anything you throw at it, from a hot mat for the gas stove to cleaning the saw in the woods, a lap carving pad to glass cutting mat. You can even sit on it to keep warm and dry, or kneel on it in the garden! Large one is 60x45cm, the smaller 45x30cm."

VX21 - Bahama Blue is a new shade to our X-Pac VX21 range. After requests from a number of customers we thought we would give it a try.

Dimension Polyant X-PAC VX21HS high performance pack material in. A unique product offering a lightweight, high strength, 100% waterproof fabric which is ideal for Rucksacks, Packs, Bags and a variety of other uses. The combination of low stretch, waterproof construction technology and 210 denier face fabric provides an ideal balance of weight and durability. As used by many of the Worlds leading Ultra Lightweight pack manufacturers.

Xpac has Diamond effect dacron fibres and a 0.25mm PET film which are sandwiched between a 210 denier nylon face and a 50 denier polyester backing. A DWR (Durable Water Repellant) finish is also applied. The reverse of the fabric is off white which improves visibilty inside a pack.

We think our posts have definitely upped their game recently, how fab is this one from

"🖤 the black bag is made out of 'carlyle' bonded cotton twill, sourced from . I wanted a waterproof natural fibre to make this an all weather option, but didn't want one that was crunchy like an oilskin - this fits the bill perfectly. The lining is a deadstock LVMH viscose twill from a couple of years ago. It's very shifty and so was a bit of a nightmare to sew, but it feels lovely and balances out the much stiffer outer.
💚 the green bag is all scrap fabric - exterior is a deadstock peached cotton I originally used for a jacket, and which has now also been made into two bags and the piping for my floor pouf! The lining is cotton leftover from my backpack project last year.

They're basically identical construction wise, except for the fact that I topstitched the green one all over. I would have done it on the black one, but the twill fabric is ever so slightly 'sticky' and my machine made it clear that only limited topstitching would be happening 😅"

Press stud fastener kit with 10 fabric to wood studs plus closing tools.

Fabric section had long rivet for use with carpets or extra thick cloth. The head of the fastener is 15mm in diameter. The Post stud is 7mm long and suitable for 0.8-3.6 mm material thickness.

This 500 denier Texturised Nylon is the lighter weight version of our popular D10 1000 denier Texturised Nylon. Both have DWR finish and PU coating so are waterproof. A great option if you need a tough fabric with an attractive appearance.

Starting off the week strong with this by Ealsky Designs

"So I’ve been after a slightly bigger sling bag for a while. Hip packs over the shoulder are ideal but add a water bottle and most of the space is gone. Quite often need something a bit bigger but not a back pack or messenger bag.

I tried a pattern by someone else but didn’t quite like the shape so I decided to make my own! I took a bit of inspiration from the Mystery Ranch District 8 in terms of size and proportions. To make this pack a bit more useable than a basic hip pack, I added a few more features like a stretch mesh inside zip pocket and an easily accessible discrete back pocket.

This strap is just a temporary one so I can test the pack out properly. I plan to make a padded one soon. Plus the strap arrangement can be changed thanks to the 4 tabs on the back of the pack.

I’m thinking I could make a couple of these for sale if there’s any interest. Let me know your thoughts.
