Nearly a third of adults over 55 haven't made a Will, and many don't review theirs regularly. We recommend reviewing your Will every 3-5 years or after major life events. Updating your Will is now easier and often costs the same as adding a codicil.

Chester, UK – The much-anticipated Hospice Pantomime Horse Race is back for 2024, and Storrar Cowdry is proud to announce its participation in this beloved charity event. This year’s race promises to be a thrilling spectacle, with 20 pantomime horses, donkeys, and unicorns competing at Chester Racecourse on Sunday, August 4th.
Storrar Cowdry, has entered the race with their very own pantomime with Emma Pierce-Kemp and another team member donning the outfit to race for glory, while Darlene Storrar leads the field out in the Parade Ring. The team has been hard at work in the stables, preparing for the big day and ensuring their horse is ready to dash across the finish line.
The Pantomime Horse Race is more than just a fun event; it’s a significant fundraiser for the Hospice of the Good Shepherd. Each participating horse is tasked with raising at least £500 for the hospice, and Storrar Cowdry is calling on the community to help them meet this goal. Every donation, big or small, will make a difference in supporting the hospice’s vital work.

Important Update for Landlords with Rental Properties in Wales...
It has now been 6 months since the Renting Homes (Wales) Act 2016 came into force and the time-limits affecting the terms of existing ASTs on Welsh properties has now come to an end.
In particular, landlords should be mindful that the 6 months to provide the written statement of terms in line with the legislation has now expired and if this has not been provided to the contract holder, ‘no fault’ notices cannot be issued. For any written statements issued out of time – there is a 6 month wait before a ‘no fault’ notice can then be used.
In addition, the no fault 2-month notice period for contract holders under an existing AST has now come to an end. Contract holders now require 6 months’ notice, in line with occupation contracts beginning after the introduction of the legislation.
If you are looking to regain possession of your property, please contact – Holly Rainford via email [email protected] or call 01244 400 567.
Stay informed, stay compliant, and ensure the smooth operation of your rental properties in Wales. Feel free to share this valuable information with your network!

Landlord and Tenant Round Up
We have important news regarding the Renters (Reform) Bill 2023 recently presented to Parliament. The proposed changes include abolishing Assured Shorthold Tenancies and "No Fault" evictions. Landlords will require a valid reason to evict tenants, offering more protection. Grounds for possession will be adjusted, allowing landlords to regain their property for sale or family occupancy. There will be stronger measures against tenants in arrears. Tenancy Deposit Scheme rules will be enhanced in favor of tenants. Notably, tenants can request pets, which landlords can't unreasonably refuse. While the Bill's progress is ongoing, we'll keep you informed. Contact Jane Canham at Storrar Cowdry for further assistance - find out more here...

Sadly, solicitors are often asked this question when it is already too late. It is not possible to act on instructions if a person’s condition has advanced to a point where they are unable to manage their own affairs and sign legal documents.
