A client recently approached us for help! The corners of their home were quite literally falling away from their house causing cracks within the render 😬

The house was built around 100 years ago and in more recent years have begun to literally lean away from their home.

After some careful planning and investigation work, we were able to carefully take down the corner pieces, clean the original bricks (which were in great condition) and build them safely back into their home. Tieing them in securely, to ensure that they last another 100 years.

This week we have installed one of the largest and heaviest steel ridge beams we have ever installed in a domestic property in Chesterfield 🏡

This steel will be supporting the roof for this huge extension. The images really do not do it justice. Weighing in at nearly 400kg this steel was a real challenge. Thankfully our fabulous team along with Steve at SFL Welding & Fabrication we were able to safely install this engineering masterpiece.

We cannot thank the CMD team & Steve enough for their hard work and careful professionalism on this challenging part of the project.

This will be an incredibly exciting project to see evolve over the coming weeks to truly transform this home 😄

A media wall taking shape to make fabulous use of the space either side of this chimney 😁

We have made some massive further changes to this today and cannot wait to show you the end result once it is painted 😍

Media walls are becoming increasingly popular and we can see why. They are a great way of making use of sometimes difficult spaces, while cleverly increasing storage space. This unit will provide the home owner with plenty of space for their books while intergrating two cupboards either side 😄

We recently had to knock down and rebuild a stunning summer house to make way for an extension 😃

Thankfully, our incredible team were able to relocate it and re-build it with some upgrades... a brand new floor & fresh roof felt! This will be good for many years to come 🥳

The initial stages of an extension are incredibly important. The first part of excavation at the beginning of a build instantly tells us what foundations will be required.

A "Standard Strip Footing" is typically 900mm deep and 600mm wide. However, this is for "good ground". Thankfully on the project shown here in Newbold, we have excellent ground (small amount of top soil and then clay). This is perfect for standard strip footings and more than able to hold a single storey extension for many years to come 😃

We have recently on other projects found a whole range of interesting and challenging ground conditions. One in Brampton recently had a natural spring (running water) under ground along with very soft ground. Another in Hasland actually had another house underneath their house 😱

We will share our foundation and build stories with us as all three projects come together over the next few weeks 😃

Aimee is one of the directors and enjoys being part of the customer facing operation of our team. She is here checking in on a dig we have recently done ready for a new driveway.

Warm Roofs, sometimes called Lightweight Roofs are an excellent upgrade to a conservatory roof.

Typically the thermal properties of a conservatory roof are incredibly limited. Meaning the living space is HOT in the summer and COLD in the winter. With energy prices been as unpredictable as ever, having an energy efficent thermal roof ensures a stable room and home tempreture all year round 😃

On this project we are replacing the conservatory roof with a Lightweight roof. This is an aluminium framed roof that is much lighter than a traditional timber frame roof. But has all the thermal benefits of a "proper" roof. Also, they are much cheaper than a "normal" roof 🥳

The new roof is due to arrive shortly so we will update you with the transformation as it unfolds. The exciting part is that this new warm space will have a brand new kitchen installed and can be enjoyed all year round 🙌

A stunning recent face lift for this home in Hasland 😃

We build a new porch and painted the rendering to give a brand new fresh look. Perfectly complimented with us recently installing new glazing and a composite door.

Now we are installing a new wider driveway while fitting a warm roof to this lovely home. Once the warm roof is installed a brand new kitchen and internal knock through to open the space. We can't wait to share photos with you over the next few weeks as this comes together 😍

This stunning stone side extension and porch is almost complete. A surprisingly tricky project which included some extensive damp proofing is now built. The roof is finished in a stunning slate tile which compliments the stone perfectly.

Just awaiting a beautiful new front door and garage door to finish everything off nicely. Unfortunately, some poor architect plans and complications with exsiting damp made this project surprisingly technically challenging. But the team pulled together and finally saw it come to a fabulous end.

We wanted to thank the team at Jewson Chesterfield for thier incredible work & support last year 🙌

As we approch the end of January we are reflecting on 2022 and some of the amazing things our team accomplished. We were pleased to help a family in need of some work and following a public request for nominations we transformed someones home free of charge. This was in order to help one of her incredible children with his challenges to enable him to enjoy his outside space.

The team at Jewson Chesterfield very kindly decided to get involved with this and make it possible for us to do this entirely free of charge. We cannot thank Billy at Jewson enough for his incredible help with this 😃

Although we ran this as a "random act of kindness" we gathered the hearts of many following our coverage in the Derbyshire Times.

We will be running a minimum of two random acts of kindness this year and look forward to helping improve the lifes of other families in the Chesterfield area 🫶
