Map reading, expedition safety and team work have been the key focus this week with our first year Public Service groups. Students have been out and about navigating around Holmebrook and Linacre Reservoir. 🧭📍🗺️ ☀️

Our Public Service students have had a busy couple of weeks at the The Foundry Climbing Centre in Sheffield. Our two groups have been able to put their land based skills to the test, and also completed some extremely tough climbs! 👌🏼🗻🧗

Just how good were these two today! Top class, 3rd for Sam in the Men’s and 20th for Amelia in the Women”s Cross Country AoC National finals xx 👌🏼 Chesterfield College Official should be very proud. 🫶🏼❤️

Day two of our referees course, this time Futsal with World Cup referee Marc Birkett. Our students had a great day of training and gaining valuable experience and qualifications. 👌🏼 A big thank you to AoC Sport and Derbyshire County FA for giving us the opportunity. ⚽️

Our Entry 3 Life and Living Skills group have just completed their Tennis Leaders qualification this week! The 8 week programme at Tennis Chesterfield has enabled the group to build confidence, learn new coaching skills and adapt them into their very own coaching sessions. The group have been absolutely amazing! 🎾👌🏼

What a day for our Cross Country runners competing in the AoC East Midlands Regional competition! Our students came away with a 1st in the men’s, 3rd in the women’s and a first time out and personal best! Three of our Sports students had an amazing time at the ECFA Football Activators event at the Etihad Stadium last week, they even had time for a spot of lunch in the Chairman's Club!

Our Gym Instructors had a great time down at Unit1 Fitness last week! It’s great for our students to experience such a wide variation of fitness classes and they loved the trampolines!

We are very proud of what our young referees have achieved through the ECFA Development Fund and looking forward to working further with Derbyshire FA and AOC Sport throughout the next academic year.

Referee Development Officer Reece discusses the referee course established through the ECFA Development Fund at Chesterfield College.

He aims to make the referees that train here the best in the county.

The ECFA Development Fund Program was set up to support colleges and collaborate with community partners.

The fund aims to utilise football as a vehicle, to meet some of the wider needs that young people need in their communities.
