Day 1 of 60 miles in September

Less than 2 miles to add to the count but it’s a start! This is the first time I have ran in maybe 6 years, it will be interesting to see the improvement I can make in one month.

People need help more than ever and more services are needed to make sure no one is left to face mental health problems alone. Unfortunately our power has been off since 5am and remains off at present. Does anyone know of any local cafes that maybe able to deliver tea/coffee for our Service users or even flasks of hot water. We would greatly appreciate it. Hopefully our power will not be off for much longer 🙏

We visited Chatsworth House yesterday for a Wellness day in partnership with the Mental health charity Mind.

Opportunities like this have such a positive effect on those we support and were so thank full to Mind for arranging this

We had our own Wimbledon on our Grove House Unit this afternoon. We ate Eton mess, drank champagne and played balloon tennis 🎾🎾🎾🎾

We currently have a few Service users preparing to take the next step to Independent living. As they are starting from scratch we would like to prepare them as much as we can.

We would welcome any donations of the following items to help them on their way

Beds & Bedding 🛌
Dining room table and chairs 🪑
Cutlery 🍴
Crockery 🍽️
Cooking utensils 🍳
Kettle ☕️
Toaster 🍞

Where’s Sunshine

The weather is set to be on our side for our Pride party this Wednesday ☀️

This week we had The Avery visit with some birds of Prey. Everyone absolutely loved handling the birds and listening to how they are cared for 🦉

On Friday some of our residents visited Dunston Garden centre to choose some plants to kick start our summer patio project. Deciding which plants to pick was hard work so a stop off in the restaurant for Fish & Chips was much appreciated! We have had a lot of fun planting our new plants over the last few days. Can’t wait to see what it looks like in a few weeks 🌻🌸🌻🌸🌻🌸

On Mondays, service users and staff now get to experience horse and carriage riding at The coloured cob equestrian centre. Here, the residents get to do something they haven’t done before, learn new skills and enjoy the outdoors on horseback in the gorgeous Creswell Craggs. Truly amazing experience and new hobby. Enjoyed by all!

All Service users have had great fun coming up with names for our ducks. These were then entered into a random selection app. Meet Forest, Alan, Sunshine & Quackers 🐥🐥🐥🐥

Today we celebrated the retirement of a much valued member of the team. Les will be remembered for his kindness, compassion, willingness to help anyone & lastly for his mishap on the works WhatsApp group 💨. It has been a pleasure having you with us for last part of your working life. See you soon Les

Tapton Grove celebrated their devoted employees this month with a Long Term Service celebration. Employees were awarded for their long-standing determination and dedication to the company. We would like to take the time to thank them for their constant hard work and care that they provide to our home and our residents.

Minus a few staff that could not make it these right here have devoted a total of 427 years and we couldn’t me more thankful

The first signs of Spring

The winds and rain will not keep us in! Therepuetic worker Kelsey arranged an afternoon walk up Curbar edge today. The hats and scarves were much needed

Support worker Chelsey is taking part in a 44 mile swim to raise money for Diabetes UK. Did you know that as many as 60% of people with enduring Mental Health are diagnosed with Diabetes often caused by certain medications.
