I do like to make something a bit different every so often. This one utilises the resin 3d printers and the laser.

4 potion bottles and an engraved leather pouch to hold them. The bottles are 3d printed and stand 75mm tall without the cork, the pouch is 110m x 90mm x 35mm. I quite like the twisted hexagonal bottles.

I'll probably do a couple of others, add paint to some fancy ones, and maybe even do an alchemical bag.

These will be on the Having A Larp stall this weekend, £40 each.

Oh, and because they've been 3d printed, don't drink the stuff you put in the bottles, you know, just in case it hasn't all cured fully.....and even then I still dont think you should do it 🙂🙂

22/07/2024

Just straps and buckles to go on and that'll be another 30+ sets done.

They'll go out with the other stock pieces to Having A Larp for the Empire weekend

18/07/2024

Getting through the main work but still got to get stock done.

I need to change things around lol

11/07/2024

So, while working on orders, I've got to get some stock done for the upcoming fest events. A load of vambrace and greaves to get sorted in polished, blued and antiqued finish...... and I still want to get 1 new thing done as well lol but I'll have to see if that happens

09/07/2024

So, ive been quiet since my holiday lol.

I've been hard at work, but after an incident some 4 months of pictures were lost so I've had very little to put up.

However, here's a blast from the past. 2002, Tewkesbury battle, and some armour I made for myself. A brigandine with bronze shaped rivets, covered spaulders and couters with oil blacked upper and lower canon.

10/05/2024

Hiya Folks

I'm heading off for a much needed holiday today, but I'll be back in the workshop on 29th May.

I'll answer messages and emails once I'm back

Last of the first run of the 3d printed plaques on pouches.

This batch are soft sided drawstring pouches

Meet our Armourer: Dangerous Arts 07/05/2024

Yesterday I got the news that my friend and mentor Dave Hewitt of White Rose Armoury had passed away. An amazing fella, fast with humour, passionate about his interests, always willing to help when you got stuck on a job.

We worked together for 14 years before I headed off and set up my own workshop, diversifying from purely reproduction work, but we still saw each other and helped each other out when we needed it. We had a lot in common, not just armouring, but music (him a bassist, me a guitarist/singer), bikes (I've been riding again even though I said I wouldn't), re-enactment, history and more now I think about it. And now I feel a little sadder as I've just realised that of the guys that were at the workshop when I started there in the late 90's, Dave Hewitt, John Chester, Andy Godfrey and me.... there's only me left, the others have gone.

The world is a much quieter and emptier place without my friend and I'm going to miss him.

First use of the 3d printed discs.

A few basic pouches with a little extra bling heading over to Having A Larp for sale on their stall

3d prints

A batch of 3d printed dics with various designs to go onto pouches and bags.

I've had a resin 3d printer for quite some time, from back when they were quite the exotic thing. Ivd played around with it a lot, making various things, but its time to utilise it better.

Vambrace and greaves in steel.

Antiqued finish. I'm playing around with various things to give me the last finish I want which is an antiqued one. Got to be quick to do so it does limit what's available. Im not quite there, but its close

Vambrace and greaves in steel.

Another of the finishes, this one being heat blued.

Vambrace and greaves in steel.

The cutting, fluting, edge turning and shaping is done so it's onto the last bit which is finish. First is the one folks are most used to seeing.... polished finish

Vambrace and greaves in steel.

After adding the turned edge, it's final shaping.

Vambrace and greaves in steel.

Cutting and first part of forming for the three basic patterns I do, the plain, gothic and barley twist.

Corrazina with 1.2mm stainless steel plates with burgundy velvet outer.

Been a while since I've made one of these so it was a nice change. Downside was the stainless was tougher than my usual grade so it blunted a few of my punches.

Plated leather torso and shoulders.

2.5mm vegtan leather base, hand dyed and shaded, rolled and bound edge, with antique blacked 1.2mm steel plates.

A little different from my usual fare but I do like the shoulders a lot, so they might get made again 😁😁

Larp cuirass in steel. Final part of the set.

A full harness is always something nice and there's just something about seeing a full set of armour.

Photos from White Rose Apparel's post 07/03/2024

Leg harness in steel

Second part of the set. I do enjoy doing the articulation on armour, there's something satisfying about it. I really should get a move on doing it on the leather armour as well but that's for a later date as ive a lot on my plate right now 😊

Photos from White Rose Apparel's post 28/02/2024

Arm harness in steel.

Slightly different pauldrons, more demi pauldron than full pauldron, but it'll work with the set.

Photos from White Rose Apparel's post 23/02/2024

Demi cuirass, arms and legs in steel with brass edging and etched detailing on cuirass.

21/02/2024

Splint legs.

2mm steel splints on 2.5mm hand dyed vegtan leather, with leather articulation.

Lots of rivets on these which can make them a bit monotonous to put together, but the end result is worth it 😊

£400 per pair

14/02/2024

Nice and simple pair of chain arms in 2mm steel.

Definitely something I have to make more of.

Photos from White Rose Apparel's post 05/02/2024

Thought I'd pop this one on.

Great project to make while I had some spare time on my hands and it turned out much bigger than I expected lol

01/02/2024

Larp splint greaves.

1.6mm steel on 2.5mm leather

24/01/2024

Circlet in 1.2mm etched steel.

I accidentally went a bit mad with how aggressive I did the etch, but thankfully it was supposed to look ancient lol 😁

16/01/2024

Brigandine.

Nothing new there you might think, but this one has a difference...... the plates are plastic 😁

Yup, very lightweight brigandine. I can lift this with my little finger which is just ridiculous lol.

I might make something a little simpler in the same manner, coat-of-plate-esque possibly, just to see what it's like 🙂

Reinforced drawstring pouches.

£20 each including UK postage
