Dragons Back One Push Trying to do the DBR course in one go, something like the Spine ish. What an epic few days seeing the boys battle it out across the north of Wales, that place can be unforgiving. But the biggest issue was being underprepared across the board, this was the efforts biggest killer. I look forward to seeing those boys giving this another crack in the future. As annoying as niggles can be. You can always still work around them. With running it may be dropping mileage or frequency and doing some other forms of cardio to keep you ticking over. But in most cases there always has to be a drop in total volume somewhere. I’ll always have a bias to people being coached, and it’s not just down to me being a coach or because I get coached. It’s because I understand the value of what it can do for people, not just impact of doing exercise, but also the positive impact it can have on someone’s life. And in the beginning in most cases is where people need the most help and then as you build confidence and competence it generally tapers off and you become quite self sufficient, and we intervene when it’s needed. Take your time. Especially when starting out, or returning back to training. Let your body gain some strength and momentum with the sessions before you push hard.

A few tips for your gym success. 1- Needs to be affordble. If it’s more expensive, hopefully you get a better service. 2- Keep it local. Convenience is king when starting out. 3- Think about the times you’ll have to train. Early morning sessions may not sound great, but for most people it where that can grab time.

Get the carbs down ya! Training with an empty stomach/fasted may lead to you leaving some performance gains on the table. And it can hinder your long term progression. A lot of the good fasting studies were done on obese men, let how does that relate to you? that sink in.

SUPERSETS If you’ve been following me for a while then you’ll know I bloody love a superset. And here’s a few reasons why. They can make us more efficient in the gym, they give you some focus and good intent. They are solid way of getting density within your session, pick two good bang for your buck exercises and go for it just add as many sets as you want, or set a timer and go for it. You can train two body parts back to back without much interference, I personally like lower and upper body pairs.
