Introducing the team: carter

Matt is a highly experienced and well-known coach within Gloucestershire and beyond, with RFU Level 3 Rugby coaching, Mentoring and Director of Rugby qualifications under his belt. Matt is a former Hartpury College student and holds a BTEC in sports science and Rugby Studies. Outside of running a successful plumbing and heating business, Matt is currently the Head of Rugby and professional sports coach at Kingham Hill School and has coached at Club 1st XVs, County level as well as National league Rugby (Both Men’s and Women’s). Matt has just finished his second internship with LPM under the watchful eye of Pierre Villepreaux. Having coached age grade rugby at his home Club Cirencester RFC, as well as Stow on the Wold RFC’s u13s last season, Matt headed up the Senior coaching team and whole Club Rugby section. Matt has recently stepped down as Director of Rugby at Stow on the Wold RFC after a highly successful period for the Club, culminating in their highest league finish position and highest level attained. Alongside coaching on the grass, Matt’s primary role in the Academy is that of Director of Rugby, responsible for the continued development and delivery of the overall Academy Rugby pathway, as well as coach, referee, CPD and mentoring. Introducing the team: carter

Kate is a current level 2 rugby coach aspiring to level 3. As a current player Kate has played rugby for the last 15 years at community, championship and regional level. Kate has also played regional and championship hockey and is a black belt in karate. Kate’s coaching abilities and qualifications transfer across multiple sports. When she’s not being mum to her three little ones (all under 5) Kate is a former PE apprentice at Heywood School Forest of Dean before going on to become a professional level 3 personal trainer and gym manager.
Kate is currently part of the women’s and girls coaching team at Stow RFC and has just signed for the coming season at Fairford Vixens RFC as they enter the RFU league structure for the first time. Kate is a former junior coach at Cirencester and current sports coach at Kingham Hill School. Kate’s role within the academy is Head of Girls Development and Performance. There’s currently a big rise in playing numbers throughout women’s and girls rugby and Kate is excited to nurture and develop the stars of the future.

Introducing the team: mbanga

Will is a highly experienced coach and education & training professional, with Level 3 Rugby coaching, RFU Mentoring and postgraduate Exercise Science & Coaching Science qualifications under his belt. He is a long-time advocate of “total rugby” and the philosophy of LPM, and recently completed his second internship under the watchful eye of former France international player & coach, Pierre Villepreaux and other top French & international coaches in Lubersac. Will has coached at Schools 1st XV and Provincial/ County levels at U14s, U16s, U18s, U20s; Club 1st XVs, National leagues, Men’s & Women’s representative and international level locally and abroad. Prior to coaching in the Gloucester Rugby Junior Academy/ DPP system for the past decade, Will is passionate about player development and has coached/ consulted for professional Academies in S. Africa and recently stepped down as Head coach at Stow on the Wold RFC after a highly successful period under Stow DoR and fellow Academy Director Matt Carter. Alongside coaching on the grass, Will’s primary role in the Academy is that of Operations Director, responsible for the continued development of the overall Academy program, as well as coach CPD and mentoring. Introducing the Team: Phillips

Tom is a highly experienced Education professional and former British Army Infantry Officer. He is currently the Director of Sport at Kingham Hill School. Outside of his Army career, he has gained significant experience teaching & coaching in Gloucestershire and Oxfordshire with RFU Level 2 Rugby coaching and Mentoring qualifications under his belt. Tom has been an instrumental figure in bringing the LPM UK / Stage de Pierre Villepreux Rugby program to the UK, after last seasons successful camp Tom recently completed his second Internship under the watchful eye of former France international Pierre Villepreaux in lubersac. Tom currently holds an important role in the Senior coaching team at Stow on the Wold RFC, where he is now responsible for the Transition Pathway for both Girls & Boys (u16/ 18 into Adult game) He has coached Senior men’s XVs, Colts teams and supported the Club’s Women & Girl’s section. Alongside coaching on the grass, Tom’s primary role in the Academy is that of Director of Partnerships & Rugby Development, where he has responsibility for the continued development of partnerships with individuals and organisations whose input and expertise will support the wider effort of the Academy program, as well as coach CPD and mentoring.
