These images show the making up of kingwood and boxwood stringing or Tarsia a Toppo ( marquetries a bloc), this involves several processes firstly make a block in this case kingwood cut so the final stringing will be across the grain next cut into strips 9/64” (3.5mm) then sandwich between 1/32” (1mm) boxwood, next cut into strips I cut these at 5/64 (2mm) thick to mimic the sawcut veneers of the Eighteenth century. #kingwood #boxwood #marquetry #bafra_restorers #antiquerestoration #antiqueconservation #antiquefurniturerestoration #antiquefurnitureconservation #clivepaynerestoration #handmade #eighteenthcentury #nineteenthcentury 31/03/2022
