A year ago today I had an epiphany. The group picture was taken at my Mumโs 75th birthday party last April - I didnโt realise then that I had assumed the role of the disco ball. ๐คฆ๐ผโโ๏ธ
A new pacemaker operation in the January had lead to months on the couch recovering (read: eating cake) and I honestly wasnโt aware at just how big I had gotten. Martin had continued to tell me how gorgeous I looked and how much he loved me.๐ฅฐ I had ignored the shopping trips spent in the size 18/20 sections and focussed on trying to feel โnormalโ. Whatever that is ๐คฆ๐ผโโ๏ธ
A comment from an old ship friend โLooking gorgeous!โ on that photo (where my sister is wearing my dress that I couldnโt fit into anymore) triggered something in me and I decided on change. A 2-hour phone call with Ben Jackson lead to reprogramming myself.
I weighed 14 stone 9lbs (95Kg) and told him my target was 12 stone (76Kg) โจIN MY DREAMSโจ.
So I startedโฆI walked at least 3 times a week for 45 minutes, drank 2 litres of water a day, every day, ate one nutritious meal a day, snacked on protein bars, cut out sugar and tried intermittent fasting for 48hrs once every 7 days.
Benโs policy was 80% good, 20% not-so-good so I could still enjoy nights out with friends and family.๐ฅ I finally had some accountability.
By July I had lost a stone, by November I had lost 2 stone. Today, I have lost 3 stone in weightโฆIโm 11 stone 9lbs (75Kg)!!!
My team of Doctors at BARTS are thrilled. When one has a heart condition, itโs always best to give yourself optimum survival chances and losing the weight has certainly helped. Martin still tells me how gorgeous I look but now I FEEL it too. Mandy and I are being recognised as twins again, not just sisters and my wardrobe is back! The second picture is me at the end-of-season LTFC dinner last night.

Hereโs an amazing food diary hack / calorie tracking trick ๐๐ I created with my client Danielle!
So Danielle couldnโt be bothered with apps, recipe books and meal plans because she liked to cook what and when she pleased.
She wanted to keep her creative cooking hobby alive whilst she committed to reconstructing her habits and dropping a dress size without sacrificing her life. โญ
Danielle had (and still has) all the usual things in her cupboards; pasta, rice, potatoes, green veg, salad veg, meats, cheeses and fruit. That didnโt have to change.
Rather than relaunching her cuisine completely with new shopping lists, items that couldnโt be pronounced and spices sheโd never even heard of, we did something much much easierโฆ ๐
On her kitchen wall, we made a gorgeous chart of all her usual ingredients, relative portion sizes and measurements and then wrote down the calorie content of each ingredient.
In order to work out the calories, Danielle goes to the chart and adds up all of the things she used to wizz up her dish, keeping track of everything without hassle!
This is such a simple and easy solution to calorie counting and something every household can do on the back of a cupboard door within minutes!

Can you enjoy foods and drinks you love and still lose weight?
I get asked this question a lot.
Surely to lose weight you have to be miserable right?
You have to be on a diet and hate every moment of it.
Instead of dinner, you have a nap because youโve run out of calories.
Bread for breakfast? Donโt be stupid, you canโt eat bread and lose weight, because โcarbs make you fatโ.
Salad, salad, salad. Thatโs all you can eat.
Fancy a piece of chocolate or a take away?
Well you canโt! Because thatโs โnaughtyโ
Let me tell you a little secret,
You might not believe me, butโฆ you can lose weight whilst eating the food and drink you love.
Yep, I said it.
Youโre probably thinking, whatโs the coffee and almond croissant got to do with it?
Well, let me tell you.
And this was my breakfast.
A delicious latte and almond croissant!
Before you say it โbut youโre a PT, you exercise 8 hours a dayโ.
ALL of the clients I work with eat the foods they love and still lose weight.
And they have busy jobs, kids and life stresses just like you.

3 SIMPLE PRODUCTIVITY HACKS TO BUY BACK TIME
For busy ladies & gents struggling to get fit and healthy in 2023.
As age creeps up on me, so does the realization that time is a precious and scarce resource.
Now as a busy parent, husband and entrepreneur Iโm even more motivated to systemize how to DO MORE with LESS WORK.
Below are my 3 go-to productivity hacks that have bought me back time for the things I love (and find time to sneak a work out in!

Add All Non-Negotiables in Your Calendar: Every important event, including time to food shop and go for a walk goes into our Google calendar. Simply put, if you want the task done, add it in your calendar, create a habit.

Double or Triple Your Planning Time: If youโre new at using your calendar or if you havenโt developed the self-discipline to consistently execute on tasks, this hack is for you.
Give yourself MORE time than needed to complete your task so you canโt fail. Success will give you motivation to form good habits.

Set hard deadlines: โIโll get it done later this weekโ wonโt fly if you have a boss at a 9-5 job. So, neither should this be okay for your health.

IโM BACK IN BALANCE
As you can see from this photo in July when I first took my bloods, my omega 6-3 ratio was out of balance at 6-1 ๐คฆ๐ฝโโ๏ธ
Having high values like this can create so many problems within your body and affects you at a cellular level. The more out of balance you are, the less your cells will function properly.
I thought I was relatively healthy with all the exercise I do and my diet is pretty good 80% of the time. Turns out I was massively wrong!
The problem is, I donโt eat much fish and other foods with omega 3 in. Your body needs these essential fats from foods as itโs the only fat it canโt make.
