Looks like perfect weather for bowls! Join us at Cirencester Bowls Club between 5.30pm and 7.30pm on Friday to give it a try for free. All equipment and basic tuition provided. Just wear flat shoes please.
A great afternoon of bowling yesterday as we held our mixed triples competition. Eight teams competed, playing 5 ends against each other team. It was a bit of a marathon, but a lot of fun!
If you like the sound of bowls, we are still running our Rock up and Roll sessions on Wednesday and Friday evenings from 5.30pm until 7.30pm. Just bring yourself and some flat shoes - we do the rest!
Another good result for the B team this week in the South Cotswolds League, winning by 4 shots overall and two out of three rinks away at Nailsworth Mills. The A team were on the other end of a similarly close match, losing by 4 shots overall, with just the one win against Wotton under Edge.

If this sounds fun, come along to Cirencester Bowls Club any Wednesday or Friday between 5.30 and 7.30 for a similar experience. All equipment provided - and it's free!
****Here is a wee poem by Class of 24 Try Bowler Steve Ashton. Welcome to the world of bowls Steve and Fiona****
Bowling...
My wife and I tried bowling, at Ralston Bowling Club
It seemed (to her) much better then me (solo) down the pub!
We went, to learn if we could bowl, to see it was fun...
We turned up (total newbies) for the 'try bowls' - session one...
Where Jim and Fred were waiting to show us all the ropes!
(I'd once been crown green bowling, so for stardom I had hopes!)
The coaching team were brilliant as they took us to the 'rinks'
I never knew that rolling balls could have so many kinks!
The spot goes on the side where you need the bowl to turn,
Don't put it in the gutter 'cos that is just a 'burn'
None of us could claim to be the next world bowling star!
But they've got a lovely clubhouse (with a cheap and friendly bar)...
I think we all enjoyed it, over half have paid our dues
And you'll find us all on Amazon, selecting bowling shoes!
It takes more than just six weeks to make a lawn bowls star...
But if you want to try it there’s much worser ways by far!
😀
A couple of great results for our league teams last night. The A team won at Malmesbury (62-56) and the B team beat top-of-the-league Tetbury B by 10 shots! Both Cirencester Bowls Club teams get 8 points. Well played to all involved, especially the two B team debutants. You can see the league tables here: https://www.southcotswoldbowls.co.uk/?page_id=87
It's going to be a beautiful evening. Why not join us for an hour or two of free bowls from 5.30pm to 7.30pm. All equipment provided. Just wear flat shoes and we'll take care of the rest! Bar will be open too!

Thank you to everyone that played in the two county Top Club competition matches over the last few days against Cheltenham Suffolk Square and Chipping Camden. We lost both of them 4-1, but it was a great experience. Maybe next year!

This looks great - any interest in something like this in the Cirencester area?
First day of play outdoors this season. Great to be back out there!
Competition Draw Day! We now know who will play who in all the club competitions. Looking forward to seeing how everyone gets on 🙂
Unfortunately, due to the recent wet weather, our green will not be opening this Sunday as planned, but will instead be available from 23rd April. We will have a short official opening on Sunday (14th) but no play I’m afraid 😦
Only a week to go now until the outdoor season starts! The green will be opened at 3pm on Sunday 14th April, with children and grandchildren of our members rolling the first woods. If you’re in Cirencester, why not pop in and join the fun? We’re right next to the Brewery Car Park.
NEW! 2024 fixtures are now on the website: https://www.cirencesterbowls.org.uk/Fixtures/Fixtures.aspx
As the indoor season draws to a close, thoughts turn to outdoors. Just over a month to go and preparations are well underway!
