What a month it has been! August has been my busiest month of the year and whilst wedding season isn't over yet, I'm just trying to take a moment to appreciate what an incredible month it has been. ⁠

The backdrop of dreams. 😍 I love dressing a grandeur staircase with flowers. It becomes a talking point of a wedding and this was no exception. Eastington Park's spiral staircase is one of my favourites to work with, imagine your guests walking into your venue and seeing this. Obsessed. ⁠

Are you trying to choose arrangements that suit the church's ambience and your overall wedding style? It can be tricky! From the perspective of someone who's created arrangements for hundreds of couples, I've created a list of what to consider when planning wedding flowers for your church ceremony. (You might want to save this for later!)⁠

1. 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑨𝒍𝒕𝒆𝒓⁠
Church buildings can be ornate and beautiful so opt for impactful arrangements. Choose an urn or vase arrangement, placed on a pillar, to frame the sides of your altar. These can also be relocated to your reception venue after the ceremony.⁠
⁠
2. 𝑷𝒆𝒘 𝑬𝒏𝒅𝒔 & 𝑪𝒉𝒂𝒊𝒓𝒔⁠
Enhance your aisle with flowers along the edges of your church seating. Opt for hand-tied posies to attach to church chairs with ribbon or use small hanging jars filled with fresh blooms for church pews. Alternatively, line the bottom of the aisles with meadow arrangements. Again, these can be repurposed and used at your reception venue.⁠

3. 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑬𝒏𝒕𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆⁠
Create the grandest of entrances. If your church has an archway, enhance it with a floral arch, milk churns or urn arrangements and use it as a photo backdrop. These can be moved and used behind the top table at your reception.⁠

A moment of appreciation for this colourful summer wedding back in 2019. A particularly special day as Alex is my cousin!⁠

The couple wanted jewel tones and bright colours as the backdrop to their wedding day, and it didn't disappoint. I used vuvuzela, Kate and Juliet roses, peonies, clematis, delphiniums and more alongside eucalyptus, soft ruscus and jasmine to create arrangements such as a floral meadow installation in the courtyard of The Matara Centre.⁠

A breathtaking venue, and with the brightly coloured flowers, this wedding was so joyous.⁠

I LOVE any arrangement that can be repurposed during your wedding day and a floral runner is the perfect example (so much so, I think it is a must-have when planning your wedding flowers!).⁠

A floral runner is a low arrangement, designed in sections. It's easy to disassemble and move so here are a few ideas on how you could multi-use the floral runner during your big day:⁠

Your bridal bouquet is the main accessory to your look so it's worth ranking highly in your wedding flower budget. Your bouquet will feature in most of your wedding photos and you want it to look phenomenal, so it's not worth compromising! 💐⁠

You’ll want bridesmaid bouquets to complement the bridal bouquet but they can be smaller arrangements, using fewer flower stems and therefore allow a bit more budget towards that ultimate bridal bouquet. 👌

I love sitting down with engaged couples to chat about your big day but it also means you get to see the shelves of vases and decor I've got here. Seeing things in person is always a little different and you might fall in love with a certain style of urn or vase that I have here or even be inspired by flowers that I might have in the studio that day. ⁠

When you book a consultation, you can choose whether to have your consultation in person at the Daisy Lane Floral Design studio in Clevedon or we can do it over a video call if you can't make it here and I'll do my best to make it as inspiring as an in-person visit!.⁠
