From boring to BANGING, this TV cabinet has been handpainted and totally transformed into a statement piece of contemporary furniture art. My client wanted bold and bright and orange as the dominant colour but apart from that pretty much free rein to do my thing. 💥

Should I do more brights/neons?

If I had to choose a favourite shape, it would probably be the humble circle! ⚪️

This one was for 📺 but it hasn’t been aired yet. I will let you know when it’s going to be on so you can see the process and what this chest of drawers looked like before! 😬

I wanted to create a riot of colour on the drawers but keep the main frame clean and crisp as a contrast. I demonstrated this technique at the PBA a few weeks ago and then brought it back to the shop…and it sold last week! ⭐️

Painting for me isn’t about being known for one particular ‘style’ but exploring as many as I can and developing a catalogue of favourites that I return to when I feel like it! I’m working on something totally different at the moment but that’s what keeps it fresh and fun! ✌🏼

I lost a piece of myself last week when this one sold! Should I have kept it? Maybe. BUT the joy it brings me to think it’s found its forever home is so wonderful. I will be forever grateful for being asked to create a piece for the front cover of The Colourist and given this opportunity. 💙🤍🩵

Leaf love 🍃

Being inspired by nature and explicitly using it in upcycling and painting is so wonderful because it breathes life and captures a moment in time. I am so pleased this one found a home last week! I will miss it in the shop but it’s a good excuse to paint something else!!! 🤩

The main colour is a blend of a few different colours if you look closely and I then used leaves to print the inside and shelves for a subtle contrast to the outside. 🍃🌿🍃🌿🍃🌿🍃🌿🍃🌿🍃🌿🍃🌿🍃

Man in the Mirror 🙋🏻‍♂️

I had a bright idea to paint this frame AND the actual mirror too! I wanted to create a Bloomsbury-inspired look incorporating gold too which you don’t often see. I used and Gild for the gold! And admittedly I got a little carried away with the photos and have shared an excessive amount but it looked so different in different lights!

It sold whilst I was still working on it BUT I’m definitely going to do more like this as I really enjoyed the painting process as it was totally free and spontaneous! 💡

I like to think I improve technique with each new project to try and grow as an artist and this one sure tested my patience and maths skills! I am delighted to share it though and feel really pleased with the results…as is my client 🫶🏼

Sometimes painting a piece of furniture in one colour is the perfect way to bring a room together. This was a commission for who designed this space and wanted me to add a pop of glossy blue and gold to the space. 🤍

I think what works best for me in this bedroom is obviously is the use of colour but also the combination of textures and patterns. 🌟

If you’d like to commission me to paint/upcycle a piece of furniture then always be in touch…it’s often a much more affordable way of giving a space a new identity than buying new…

I do love a splash of colour…and that is exactly why I created this handpainted design on this vintage teak chest of drawers. Contemporary, textured, layered and now full of character and life. 🙌🏼

Shelly was not afraid of colour and totally transformed this blanket box into a bright, bold and brave design.

Maria had never painted furniture before coming to the Annie Sloan Furniture Painting Retreat and totally embraced a sense of fun and colour to transform this very bland pine chest of drawers into something full of personality and pizazz! ⭐️

Lisa really listened to this piece and worked sympathetically, with its original character, to modernise it slightly whilst maintaining its charm. A blended base of Honfleur and Graphite gave depth before using other colours to highlight the carving. 👌🏼

I think it’s very beautifully done and worthy of a big 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼!

Coral meticulously yet effortlessly transformed this little unit using at the Annie Sloan Furniture Painting Retreat and had never used Chalk Paint before (well only on a mirror). She was one of the few UK guests to attend this year and completely naturally fell into the Chalk Paint rhythm…

Now this piece is a cheerful piece full of colour and repeating pattern and I think it’s awesome!!! I hope you all agree…🌟

When I first saw this piece, I really wasn’t sure how it could work and be cool. I WAS WRONG because I should have known that Becky would have worked her usual magic and nailed it! Check out the gorgeous, smooth paintwork and the beautifully handpainted leaf cascade…not to mention the copper detailing on the hardware. Really beautiful and definitely very cool! ✨
