Message from Clevedon Firefighters
For the second time this weekend we have been called out to smouldering fires on Clevedon Beach involving large pieces of driftwood.
These pose a risk to beachgoers including young children as well as the discarded cans and glass bottles left around the fires.
Next week we’re starting work at Clevedon Marine Lake 🏊♂️📢
We’re fixing the outer wall at marine lake, to help make sure everyone can continue to enjoy swimming and relaxing at the lake for years to come ☀️
On Tuesday 14 May we’re planning to start work at the marine lake in Clevedon, which should take around 12 weeks to complete. This follows from wall improvement works near Poet’s Walk last year.
We’re trying to limit disruption as much as possible, and all work will be paused during the weekends. You’ll still be able to use the lake while the work is happening, though water levels might be slightly lower than normal.
Our contractors will be working from a pontoon, which will be out on the lake between 7am and 5pm from Mondays to Fridays. While it’s not in use, it will be safely secured on the slipway.
We’ll post updates on this page.

Following a successful bid by the North Somerset Violence Reduction Unit (VRU), the ‘Knife Angel’ will visit North Somerset this Spring as part of a nationwide tour to highlight the issue of violent crime.
The iconic 27-feet-tall statue has been created from over 100,000 knives and blades confiscated by the UK’s 43 police forces. It was designed by Alfie Bradley at the British Ironwork Centre (BIC) as a national monument against violence and aggression.
An opening ceremony for The Knife Angel will be held on Wednesday 1st May 2024 at 4.00pm at Knife Angel (Italian Gardens) with a closing ceremony starting at the Grand Pier, times to be confirmed.
St Giles Trust will be hosting a webinar for parents and carers on Wednesday 8th May 2024 talking about county lines, gang involvement and serious youth violence.
Three community days to share key messages and promote Knife Angel are being held in locally.
Portishead – Friday 3 May
Nailsea – Saturday 18 May as part of the Farmer’s Market
