Why do 91% of families place the people that they love with dementia into the care system for additional support? The no1 reason is that they have lost the ability to communicate and therefore it is in everyone's best interests. Outstanding dementia support starts with knowledge and attitude, then moves to a willing to change with new knowledge and understanding. Everything in dementia care starts and finishes with communication and this is why every person who supports people with dementia need to become registered dementia interpreters.
