Some highlights from my second week as your MP.

I was pleased to ask my first question in the Commons this morning - on the appalling legacies of the pandemic - in response to a statement from Pat McFadden on the first part of the UK Covid-19 Inquiry report published yesterday.

It was a huge honour to be sworn in as Colchester’s MP today in the House of Commons.

My first week as your MP has been - and will be - one of the most memorable of my life. Far too much to pack into 30 seconds but here are some highlights. Many thanks again to the many people who’ve been part of this so far.

Great response from residents on the doorsteps in the abbey fields area of Shrub End. Such a pleasure to get out and meet as many of you as I can these last few weeks!

Colchester has given my kids a great start in life. I'm running to be your MP to help give others the same thing.

Animals need our protection more than ever right now. Labour has a plan to end cruelty and promote animal welfare.

Labour's shadow environment and rural affairs minister Steve Reed joined me in a blustery Colchester recently to talk about what Labour will do for animals if we’re lucky enough to be elected tomorrow.

Tomorrow is polling day, and I’m asking for your support to become Colchester’s next MP.

This election gives us the chance to vote for the change Colchester and the country so desperately needs, but that only happens if you vote!

The polls are open from 7am and close at 10pm. You must remember your photo ID and any remaining postal votes can be submitted at your polling booth.

Colchester’s potholes are hazardous and cause damage to vehicles that’s costly to repair. I’ve heard a LOT about them from residents across the city over the last few months.

Labour has a plan to get up to one million more potholes fixed each year. It’s about time!

I was really pleased to host Darren Jones MP of the Shadow Treasury team to Colchester recently. We had very positive discussions with local businesses, employers and investors - all of whom are as keen as I am to see Colchester thrive.

A real pleasure to be joined by Sadiq Khan in Colchester yesterday. After 14 years of this government, we’re ready for change. With less than a week left until polling day on 4 July, Sadiq says it best: vote for change.

Met Lauren, a recently trained midwife living here in Colchester, whilst out canvassing the other day. Was a great opportunity to hear her story and compare it to that of my mother, who trained to be a midwife back in the 50s.

The NHS has had enough of this terrible government. Only Labour has the solutions to fix it. If you, like Lauren and I, care deeply about the state of our NHS, vote for change on July 4th.
