It's National Sharks Day! 🦈 Unlike humans sharks have 5 -15 rows of teeth, which are often lost when eating food! However, their teeth grow back so they don't need to worry about being toothless. We, on the other hand, do not produce anymore teeth after growing our adult teeth. So, we therefore cannot afford to loose them. This is why we should visit the dentist every 6 months! It allows us to be proactive instead of reactive ... we'll see you soon! 😋🦷🪥🦈

Here at The Yorkshire Grey Dental Surgery, any children under the age of 6 get free dental check ups! This will allow your child to have quick & easy access to dental services. This also means this your child will be signed up to our system , ready for all future appointments they will need when they are older! 🦷🪥🍎

Meet the team post- Meet Lily! Lily is the latest member of our team and is a fantastic dental nurse who is also qualified in Oral Health Education. In her spare time she likes to hike and spend time with her family! 🦷🏔😁

Environmental Impact Post ♻️ We have introduced digital x-rays into the practice which means we dont need to use environmentally damaging chemicals in the processing of our x-rays. This system also allows us to reduce the dose of radiation you receive when having an x-ray taken! 🪥😁🦷

Environmental Impact post ♻️🪥- We have introduced computer based practice management software to store patient notes and other information. It reduces the need for paper to be used, it also allows us to email treatment plans and invoices so that we can avoid printing these.

Meet the team - Meet the team- This is our wonderful head nurse Liz and our very clever lab technician, Isaac! Liz and has been nursing for 6years and is trained in inhalation sedation. Isaac has a bachelor of science in dental and has been a lab technician for 10 years. They both enjoy going to the gym and playing badminton with there daughter🐶💕🦷🪥

Environmental Impact post♻️: In our industry it is still necessary to print. We require signed treatment plans and consent forms, and need to give information to people who may not use digital methods to access their information. We use cartridge free tank printers which are able to print up to 11,000 pages on a single tank, reducing the plastic waste from printer cartidges by a vast amount. 🖨📑💻✅

Meet the team- This is our trainee nurse Joni! Joni joined the practice in early 2022 and is currently doing her dental nurse apprenticeship with Colchester Institute. When she’s not at the practice she enjoys gardening and cooking. 🪴🥘🪥🦷

To make crowns, bridges and dentures we use laboratories based solely in Essex (Billericay and Sible Hedingham), this cuts down on the distance your work needs to travel and reduces its carbon footprint. Occasionally very specialised work needs to go further afield (Yorkshire) but we do not send dental work overseas. This also means we know that the work is made to the high standards of UK dental technicians.

Meet the team- This is our lovely dental Therapist Zoe! Zoe has had a career in dentistry for over 12 years, starting as a nurse. She completed her degree at the University of Essex in 2019 to become a hygienist and returned to complete her studies in dental therapy in 2021. Zoe strives to provide patients with high-quality care and advice to allow them to maintain their oral health. Outside the practice, Zoe is a dedicated mum of 4 with an interest in theatre and travel. 🌎💕😁🪥🦷

Environmental impact post! ♻️ Our surgery waste has very strict regulations surrounding its disposal. Clinical waste (contaminated gloves, cleaning wipes, etc) is handled by Albus Environmental who reclaim energy from their incineration process to heat and power homes. They run a fleet of vehicles that run on biofuel and are based in the South East, so our waste doesn’t have to travel far to be processed. Check out their website here albusenvironmental.com

Meet the team post! This is our wonderful Hygienist Clair. Clair graduated from the London School of Hygiene in 1988 and has worked around the Colchester area since then. Clair is passionate about supporting patients and helping them maintain their oral hygiene. When she’s away from the practice Clair enjoys spending time with her grown up sons and going to Zumba or Pilates classes.🦷🪥

2 stickers = 2 Thumbs up! We had Son, Arlo come in for his annual Check up! Arlo was very happy throughout his appointment and loved getting his stickers at the end! We’ll look forward to seeing you for your next routine check up 😁🍎🪥🦷

Meet the team- This is our other principal dentist Izzy! Isabel graduated with honours from Sheffield University in 2016 and currently divides her time between the Yorkshire Grey and a job in Community dentistry in Colchester. There she provides dental care for those with otherwise limited access to oral health care, including people with physical and learning disabilities, mental health conditions and complex medical histories. She is accredited to provide sedation to help manage patients with phobias and severe dental anxiety, and is currently introducing this to complement practice at the Yorkshire Grey. Izzy is also a member of Sedation and Anaesthesia in Dentistry (SAAD) and The British Society of Special Care Dentistry (BSSCD) 🪥🍎😁🦷

Meet the Team- This is one of our principal dentists Edd! Edd qualified from the University of Sheffield in 2015. He also has a BSc (Hons) in cell biology from UCL. He has worked in a range of practices. His time working for large corporates demonstrated to him that he prefers a more personal and tailored approach to running a dental practice. He enjoys restorative dentistry, particularly root canal treatments to enable patients to keep their own teeth for as long as possible. He is able to provide short term orthodontics with clear aligners to straighten teeth and complement a holistic and complete approach to oral health. In his spare time, he enjoys cooking for friends and family and listening to music.

In for our monthly compliance checks. helps make sure the team and the practice is up to date with the on going changes with the dental CQC- who regulate health care. Jodie-may’s role in the team plays a huge part in insuring that we are giving our patients the very best quality of care.
