HAPPY ENDING IN COLEFORD CHICKEN CHASE 🐔

Coleford residents can breathe a sigh of relief this morning as the elusive chicken -.locally known as Dave - has been dramatically captured after a high speed pursuit around the clock tower. The drama was brought to a safe concusion when local bakers and local resident cornered Dave outside The Feathers pub.

At night in late autumn and winter, you might hear the 'too-wit too-woo' calls of tawny owls in woodlands, parks and gardens.

The ‘too-wit too-woo’ call, often referred to as a generic owl song, is that of the tawny owl. But it isn’t the call of a single bird, but instead made by a male and female calling to each other. The female makes a ‘too-wit’ sound, and the male answers with ‘too-woo’!

Wow!! Best get tickets asap!

The legend, Tom Jones, will be gracing Chepstow Racecourse once again in the Summer of 2024 with a highly-anticipated concert scheduled for Saturday, 6th July 2024.

Visiting Symonds Yat Rock in the next few weeks?

There are roadworks taking place on the hill up from Symonds Yat East/Huntsham Bridge direction.

If you're coming to Symonds Yat Rock, you will need to travel from the south - from Christchurch/Hillersland.

There are signs saying the road is closed but you can make it as far as our car park.

Hopefully the autumn colours are worth the extra journey if you're coming from the north 🍂

A big congratulations to Forester Wayne Barnes, who is set to referee the final of the Rugby World Cup between New Zealand and South Africa on Saturday. 👏👏👏

Wayne was born in Bream and was first introduced to rugby at Bream RFC, going on to become the most experienced referee in rugby history.

On Saturday, he’ll join an elite club of just 9 other referees to have officiated a Rugby World Cup final, making him the 2nd Englishman to do so. 🏉

What fantastic summery weather we have in Tintern at the moment and its set fair for another few days! Come and enjoy a coffee or a pint in the sun and a walk along the riverbank!
The only giveaway that autumn is coming is the leaves which are starting to show gorgeous tones of red and gold. Soon the whole Wye Valley will be aglow!

In continuing to promote Coleford as a Walkers are Welcome Destination we are delighted to have been given permission by the Public Rights of Way Officer for the Forest of Dean to place Walkers are Welcome stickers on all the Way Markers heading into town.

So keep an eye out as we work our way around sticking them on!
