Our Y1 children shone on the stage during their recent Celebration Assembly as bright as the sun! Maybe it was Y1’s singing, dancing, poetry recitals and individual speaking from every child that has brought the sun back. After all, our topic is Here Comes the Sun! ☀️

St. John’s Y1 Art Attack - Behind the Scene!
Behind every product there is a process and here is a behind the scenes peek of the artists at work. Each child used a range of features contained in the Just2Easy app - pencil, paintbrush, colours, shapes, images and graphics to complete this ‘Art Attack’ task. Through the completion of this task, the Y1 children are also developing key computer skills - mouse control, touch screen manipulation by applying pressure to the screen and keyboard input. #CrossCurricularLearning 💻

Composing Music - St. John’s
Y1&2 used body parts, untuned instruments and most importantly, our voices to perform 'The Tiny Caterpillar' song. One child had the very important job of playing the triangle at the exact time - didn't she do well?

St. John’s PSNI visit
Y1&7 Buddies enjoyed a visit from two local policemen who talked to the children about their job keeping us safe and how we can keep ourselves and others safe when we are out and about. We got to sit in the police car and use their walkie talkies! Thanks for visiting us! 👮♂️👮♂️🚓

The Traditional Group, playing 'Twinkle Twinkle Little Star' and a Polka received a first with distinction. The adjudicator was extremely impressed and remarked on the blend of sounds with so many instruments playing at once with the children keeping a steady pulse throughout. ⭐️
