What a lovely visit we had from two past pupils who represented Eoghan Rua in the Under 14 All-Ireland Féile in Armagh and won. Well done girls and what an inspiration you and your team are to the younger players in Eoghan Rua!
After a lot of learning on the beach the Y3&4 children deserved a nice ice cream treat from Mauds, before heading back on the train for home. The children travelled completely by public transport and walked to and from the station. In total they each walked 14000 steps that day!
Y3&4 felt so lucky to explore our local area of the North Coast. It began by travelling by train to Portrush which was very kindly sponsored by Translink. We explored the new park and then walked to West Strand. Children paddled in the sea, made sandcastles, and had a picnic!
The Yr 5 & 6 classes joined forces this year to enjoy an amazing day body boarding and sand art on West Strand, Portrush. The children started the day walking to the train station, before hopping on the 'Portrush Express!' for their super quick journey to the Port.
After some squeezing and lifting, huffing and puffing, we got everyone into their wetsuits and hit the waves. The weather was beautiful and the children all loved their time learning this new skill. It proves how important our weekly swimming lessons are in St John's!
Our Y1 children shone on the stage during their recent Celebration Assembly as bright as the sun! Maybe it was Y1’s singing, dancing, poetry recitals and individual speaking from every child that has brought the sun back. After all, our topic is Here Comes the Sun! ☀️
Year were rewarded with a picnic following the success of their Mini Fundraising Enterprise-Route vers Paris! With the help of everyone in school, we walked the distance to Paris through the Daily Mile in our playground whilst raising money for School Funds! Check out our total!
Our Y1 children were delighted to lend a hand with the food preparation and made their own sandwiches for the picnic! We had top hats, buns, sausage rolls, juice and ice pops to eat! Hopefully this’ll be the first of many picnics for our children this summer! 🧺

Y2 enjoyed an End of Year trip to Portrush Strand, the rock-pools and Coastal Zone. They succeeded on their mission to find anemone amongst the rock-pools so they could link the Julia Donaldson book, 'Sharing a Shell' to our local environment! Can you spot the anemone? The pupils learned lots of interesting facts from Michael in Portrush Coastal Zone about the beautiful and unique marine life in our local waters. Be sure to stop by the Coastal Zone the next time you’re in Portrush!
Y7 enjoyed their final outing as a class to Limitless and what a day we had, even the sun made an appearance. We started with team games, before splitting off into groups to complete activities such as archery, foot golf and hover-crafting. What a way to end the school year!
Oh, we do like to be beside the seaside! Y7 enjoyed a trip to Portrush to celebrate their final year. We travelled by train, stopped in at Morellis and Daniela gave us a brief family history, and an ice cream to enjoy. We went to the Coastal Zone, met Lenny the Lobster and learned about local sea life. We had a range of lunches from chips to doughnuts and ended our day with a play in the park and a dip in the sea.
Surf’s Up! Year 5 had a great time catching some waves with ‘Alive Adventures’ at Portrush Strand on their End of Year School Trip. Great to be out in nature enjoying the beautiful world and all it has to offer right here on our doorstep. 🏄♀️🏄♂️
Y4 embarked on a fantastic outing to Rosepark Farm. The children bounced on the bouncy castles, met and held exotic animals and took a walk around the farm. They even saw some giant footprints and sat in the Giant’s chair. The children enjoyed making memories together.
A fantastic time was had by all in Y3 on their End of Year School Trip to Rosepark Farm. They had a wonderful time holding and learning about lambs, goats, calves, spiders and snakes. They finished the day off with a play in the park, zip lines and bouncy castle fun. They said it was the best day ever!
