Yesterday's game:

In the Steel & Sons Shield fixture at Windyhall yesterday Tullans battled back from 4-0 down to bring it back to 4-3 and climb back into the game but unfortunately it wasn’t enough.

It was the Ballymoney United striker Michael Ireland who was the difference in the two sides in the first half with his devastatingly intelligence change of pace periodically unhinged Tullans back four when he give Ballymoney the lead on 23 minutes. Just before half time he struck from 25 yards to give the away side a 2-0 lead.

Ballymoney began the second half pretty much the same way as they ended the first, with Matthew Boreland scoring from a defensive mix up and Michael Ireland completing his hat-trick on 60 mins. At 4-0 down Tullans made a few changes and clawed their way back into the game, Kieran Moore earned a penalty on 65 minutes, calmly converted and ten minutes later Matthew Maguire headed home from close range. Jamie Baxter produced some excellent football down the right hand side and was unlucky to not score what may have been goal of the season when his cross struck the bar from 30 yards. On 79 minutes Kieran Moore scored his second of the game with a header from close range and with ten minutes left Tullans piled on the pressure with attempt after attempt. A draw might have been a fair result but credit were credit is due to ballymoney for grinding out a victory.

Tullans would also like to thank referee Darren Watt for officiating a very enjoyable game of football.
