Support your local pharmacies today, by signing the petition to have the government review the funding for pharmacies.
- basic drug costs not being met
- £1.3 billion shortfall in funding
- 10 pharmacies on average, closing per week
- medicines shortage issues
On Thursday 20th June, our pharmacy may look a little different as we highlight the national campaign.
Community pharmacies are going through the worst crisis in living memory.
1,400 community pharmacies have closed in the last decade.
10 pharmacies are closing a week, and three quarters of pharmacies are in the red.
We’re asking you to back our campaign to help keep pharmacies open.
Going on holiday? ✈️ Coming back from holiday? 🛬 Been having fun in the sun? ☀️ Enjoying the swimming pool and sea?? 🏖
Are your ears now feeling a bit full, popping, hearing a bit muffled??
Did you know, it could be a build up of wax?? Temperature, swimming, and flying, can all affect your ears, and cause wax to make itself known! Contact us in the pharmacy to book an appointment, on 01207 504131.
You may have heard in the media that local pharmacies are under threat from NHS cuts. Pharmacy funding has plummeted by 30% in a decade, while costs have gone up sharply.
Thousands of pharmacies could be forced to close, unless the government puts in fresh investment.
This would reduce access to care and put extra pressure on GPs and hospitals across England.
Pharmacies like ours want to help the NHS get back on its feet after the coronavirus pandemic, by taking on new services that help people stay well and live independently in the community, instead of needing hospital care. Above all we want to provide a consistently excellent service for you, our valued patients.
Instead, many pharmacies are on the brink of collapse.
Be assured we will endeavour to maintain the highest level of support that is possible, given the pressures on us due to the current funding situation.
Please sign the online petion, write to your local MP, or sign the petition form located on the pharmacy counter.
Thank you for your continued support.
Measles alert
If you visited our A&E Department at Durham between 9.00pm and midnight on Friday 24th May, you (and anyone with you) may have had contact with a person who had measles. This means that if you (or your child if they were with you) are not fully vaccinated against measles with two doses of the measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine, you or your child may be at risk of developing measles.
Measles is an infection that spreads very easily. It can occur suddenly, and people can become unwell quickly.
You should speak to your GP or NHS 111 if you or your child get a high temperature with a cough, runny nose, sore red eyes or rash within the 3 weeks after attending the A&E at UHND at the same time as someone with measles.
You should call your GP or NHS 111 - before visiting them in person or going to hospital - to avoid spreading measles to others.
There is currently increased frequency of measles generally and it can be passed to others before symptoms develop. The best protection is to have two doses of the MMR vaccine.
