MG Trophy Championship

MG Trophy Championship

The MG Trophy is one of the UKs best and most enjoyable single make club championships.

Now all fwd for the first time, the Trophy Championship has classes for MG ZR's in 3 stages of tune from 160 bhp road spec thro' 170 bhp to the slick shod full race 190's. Hopefully, 2014 will see the first MG3 out racing, the natural replacement for the ZR.

It's the final two rounds of our season at Snetterton on the 28/29th September. Despite already having this year's champ, James Cole, crowned there's still other places up for grabs so plenty of racing to watch.
There will be an MG Trophy drivers meeting in the upstairs presentation room at 11.20 on the Sunday (29th). If you're reading this and want to join us in 2025 it's important that you come along to the meeting to discuss our plans for next year. CSCC will want to know our proposed grid numbers so they can put together their 2025 race programme. However if you can't make the meeting please let me know your intentions by the 28th so we can include you in our totals. [email protected]

It's just under 3 weeks before the big CSCC event at Brands Hatch. Brands Britannia is their equivalent to MG Live so lots of extra attractions for kids and families. We will be racing with Future Classics for the first time with a split finish, we think this is a 'first' so should be exciting. CSCC have thrown this race open to all ZR's irrespective of tyre brand so why not join us for the big event at Brands on the 5th/26th of this month.

Last post to remind you all that it's our Anglesey races next Saturday (20th). Last time we were there was 2009 when Chris Bray took the honours in race 1 with Paul Luti in 2nd place and Jack Goff 3rd. Race 2 had exactly the same result. Some of the others racing that weekend were Colin Robertson, David Coulthard, Doug Cole, Helen Waddington and Graham Ross.

It's just under 2 weeks before our CSCC meeting at Anglesey. Now's your chance to revisit this great track that we haven't been to since 2009. We'll be on the amazing Coastal circuit, it's totally different to anything else in the UK. I don't know when we'll get the opportunity to go back again so if you miss going this year you'll regret it.

The funeral is on Friday 28th June at 11.30am at St Bridget's church, Brigham, CA13 OXH. There is no dress code, family flowers only. Donations to Great North Air Ambulance.

It's back to the National circuit at Silverstone on Saturday, our first visit since 2018. In that year we had 32 cars on the grid where are they all now? Both races were sponsored by our god friends at College Motors.

Race 2 saw another win for Jason and another 2nd place for Graham, third was Andy Spencer (75) again all 190 cars.
Graham went on to win the championship that year with Jason in second place and Ryan Firth in 3rd place.

Its less than 2 weeks before we're at Thruxton (18th) for the first time since 2012. Many of our drivers will never have races there before so this will be a chance to finally tick that circuit off the 'to do' list.
The photos attached are from 2012 and are not up to the standard we enjoy today courtesy of dsdigital.co.uk There's some old 'faces' in these shots.

The iconic MG3 of Colin Robertson, now with extra bhp, will be out for its first race of the season, will it head the field, come along and see.

Our Story

The MG Trophy Championship can trace its roots back to 1998 and is now recognised as one of the current race series that offers drivers the complete package. Several ‘top’ drivers have sampled the MG Trophy on their way to the BTCC including Anthony Reid, Colin Turkington, Tom Ingram and Jack Goff. Currently catering for MG ZR's in 3 stages of tune from 160 bhp road spec thro' 170 bhp to the slick shod full race 190's. In 2019 we saw the first MG3 racing and with all the top circuits on the programme again in 2020 maybe we’ll es more MG3’s join the grid.
